Finally get to post my own NGD. i have been eying this thing for a while now amd finally saved enough to bring it home. i was worried that it would not sound as good as it did in the sond controlled environment of the guitar store but it did not disappoint.
I bought this primarily for the pick up system so I am really excited to hear it plugged in which I will get to take it to a gig a week from now.
Sweet Shawn. The nice about those FGs is they have the old school Yamaha Logo on the headstock.
I much perfer the 3 intersecting tuning fork logo to the newer style dove wing logo.
Those FGs sound really nice I think and I just love the folk look of them you did good with that buy.
And you have gigs. What a great combo. I bet it will sound great on stage.
That’s a great looking Yamaha!!! I’m pretty sure I played that model the last time i spent an hour or so in our local Guitar Center… I really liked the feel & the sound it had! My only disappointment was the strings… to be fair, this one had obviously been on display for a while & had a few dings, but I felt the strings were too heavy. They felt like 12s or maybe even 13s. If I had been serious about purchasing that day, I’d have insisted on a lighter gauge to be put on before I would take it home!
I wish you lots of joy playing & gigging with your new “ bestie”!!!
I saw the radiator and white wall behind it and it reminded me of where I grew up. New Haven. Lo and behold, you are in Fairfield! You must have a nice old New England style home. I haven’t been back east in 40 years…
Thats funny, I actually thought the same thing about the cozy apartment we had in Arlington Virginia where my daughter was born. We were there for a short period of time but we did enjoy it.
But as the great profit Jim Morrison said,
“The west is the Best”
That sounds about right. Pretty modern for that area at 1920. I grew up in a house built in 1898. Nice wood, though and my mom had it insulated with that pump in foam stuff. It helped some.
