MeWithoutYou is one of those bands I’ve had the good fortune to follow since the early days and have loved watching their musical progression from a shouty post-punk sound to soaring beauty, always with interesting, deep lyrics. I was lucky to catch them in Manchester a couple of years ago before they disbanded.
My fellow musketeers were sceptical from the start, with an outright refusal from my drumming brother, but persistent cajoling paid off, and they all came through like stars in the end. No input from the Copenhagen contingent on this one
I wasn’t keen on looking for a video to go with this, as I’m clueless regarding the background, apart from obvious soul searching going on, but Hans sent some visuals which put me on the track for Native American rock art.
It works for me
Enjoy!
Something completely new for me and I don’t know where you pull these songs from Brian but that was marvelous. Love how the input from the rest of the crew raised the song mid way through. Excellent stuff as always.
Chris ,Hans , Tor and Niels … listen more and have some faith in his sometimes…cough…weird choices It’s difficult to describe what’s going on in my head now (no no )
I immediately replayed the first minute without listening to the song any further (I never do that)… I was blown away by how you sang there and I thought that I had missed something… I started reading it again and again… and then completely… there are parts in it that wouldn’t be out of place here on the radio… how wonderful, super good and extremely fun to listen to…
I understand your dilemma with the video … such a shame that you don’t get up while playing to a greater or lesser extent … but for me it is also a very good solution this way …
Listening and typing at the same time after first listening to a full song in one and Guys I think you really did a great job…Pass that on Brian…
and I will show this to my girl tonight…
With joyful amazement I forgot all those emotions in between… just quickly get something up and now you get the best ~~ ~~ BIS BIS BIS
I have to agree with Eddie and Rogier, I’m a bit blown away , that was an excellent sound and a great song. When it started I could easily have been listening to a group on The Old Grey Whistle Test or The Jules Holland Show
Brilliant mate, definatley a great song well performed.
The first time I played Chris the song and said ‘listen to this cool transition’ his response was ‘That’s just two different songs’
Aw thanks, man The Shure 58 I bought before Christmas may have played a role in that. We’ll see in future efforts
Thank you for the multiple listens and the over-the-top generous comments
@CD02 Thanks Craig
Two great shows. I miss the Whistle Test…
Cheers @DavidP. You already know the band-
I played their song Messes of Men at the JG open mic on Saturday
For anyone who likes the song, it’s well worth checking out their superb album Ten Stories with the 2nd and 3rd songs merging together in a similar way
This tune is really cool, a little weird at parts, but all in all, it’s wonderful and special. It’s nice to deviate from mainstream from time to time…
So, this is another fab Lego Lads production, Brian! Hopefully, the full crew will be joining back for the next one, but also without the Copenhagen connection, it was brilliant! Keep them coming (and please, keep on digging out these things :-)).
Yes Brian, certainly a little weird in parts but overall another triumph showcasing your ability to ‘put things together’ and get the rest of the band onside.
All those house gigs you’re hosting are clearly nurturing your musical soul.
Well done to you and the gang.
A few times through the song I was not sure where it was going but I am glad I went along. It was definitely an adventure up (or down?) the Jacob’s ladder.
