No information about forum activity

For some time now, I’ve been unable to see activity information in threads I’ve previously posted to. I know for a fact that other forum users have commented there, and the appropriate icon has always appeared. I’ve verified that this isn’t dependent on the browser I’m currently using (Firefox or Google Chrome), and clearing cookies didn’t help either.

Is there any way to determine the cause of this problem? The lack of this information makes it very difficult for me to track forum activity.

On your profile page there is a preferences setting you can play around with for tracking.
Also there is a tracking button below the last post in a thread. Usually the default setting is normal, you may need to change it to tracking or watching if you wish to follow a thread.
I don’t track anything myself, not sure exactly what setting you need to change, but I think that should point you in the right direction.

Jack, when you go within a sub-section or topic do you see the notification bell?
If yes, do you see this menu when you click on it?

That screenshot was taken with the ‘General Questions’ sub-section.

Thanks @chris_m and @Richard_close2u for quick answer.
Changing the thread’s status to “Tracking” solves the problem. However, I have a feeling that previously I didn’t have to do this manually, it changed automatically after I entered my reply, though I’m not pretty sure in this point…

My experience is that it changes to “tracking” after a reply, and also if you spend a certain amount of time reading it (dunno how much, a few minutes).

edit: ok, this post served as a test, it did not change to “tracking” after posting, so if that ever happened in the past (honestly, don’t know, but I think it did), it is certainly not happening now.

Go to ‘Preferences’ from your profile, select ‘+Tracking’. Under the ‘Topics’ heading there are option boxes which you can change to suit.

Don’t forget to Save Changes.

@heckler @BurnsRhythm thanks very much. I’ve found this option in my profile and applied proper changes.

And I didn’t forget to save, so I hope it’s OK now…

You also can pick and choose individual threads to follow even if you are not participating in them. Just look for the notification drop down list at the bottom of each thread.
