I sold a some other guitar bits I wash not using and the Behringer Overdrive and after some investigation decided to opt for a Wampler Tumnus Deluxe Overdrive & Boost Guitar Effects Pedal. It has had some great reviews with several saying if you want a very good Overdrive this is the one to go for.
When I first looked they all seem to be priced Ā£215 or more but I spotted it on Amazon for Ā£156 which is pretty good price IMO. Itās not a cheap pedal I know, but it is very good, the tone and variation of sound is great, you can go from warm edgy overdrive to full on overdrive suitable for rock or metal. I am extremely please I went for this, there are still some Amazon at the lower price, it come from Amazon USA and looking at the tracking I am wondering if it is supplied by the manufacturer.
Great score Adrian!
Love it when a plan comes together.
Good deals do come around to folks with patients I think.
My story is similar to yours.
I wanted a pedal that was $219, always, anywhere ya looked. Perhaps a year and a half later. Sweetwater had the pedal I wanted for $159.
Like you. I jumped and couldnāt be happier.
Sometimes this will work for major gear too, like amps or guitars(maybe). I wanted a expensive amp for a long time too. About a year and a half again.
Then I got a 20% discount card from my local music store in the mail. That was all I needed to push me over the edge and go get it. 20% was quite a bit of bread off a over $1k amp.
I think getting the good guy price makes ya feel even better about whatever gear your thinking about acquiring. The new gear will sound all that much better for getting the good deal.
Brain Wampler makes great pedals. He is a huge advocate for self builders. I will tell you if it was not for him there probably would not be a boutique pedal building community as big as there is today. He was really the first to educate nerds around the internet on how to make these things at home. Josh at JHS told me that Brain taught him and a bunch of the other pedal company owners everything they know.
Also I am glad you picked up the deluxe with the EQ. That is a really nice unit. A ton of dudesā¦er and some girls I know over at JHS roll with these as their main OD when performing live, i think my one buddy said this was part of his āholy quadā of something or other . So you are set Adrian.
Make sure you check out Brians video on how to use it, then look at all the others, people find cool ways to use these over the years. I know you can get these sounding almost identical to a Klon also. Super interesting.
No, seriously, i too have heard some great things about Wampler. Havenāt gotten around to buying one (yet), but i do enjoy the podcast he does too.
Congrats on finding one with that pricetag!!
Iām amazed how many overdrive pedals there are in the market.
Those wampler pedals seem to have a great reputation. Thereās a You Tube channel I like to watch - Jack Fosset - and he uses those pedals a lot and uses them very well.
I donāt know if he used that one but some of the other Wampler pedals he uses sound great.
