I started this as a campfire style song with just one guitar and chords so I could sing it with my grandchildren when I visit Wales. After learning the chords, I started fiddling with making a backing track and cover and ended up with this post. This is a great sing-along tune and just a quirky, fun song that gives me an up. Hope it does the same for you.
Watching and listening to you play and sing always gives me an āupā, Dave (even if the song doesnāt). Lovely tones, all so relaxed and well produced.
That was great Dave! Brought back memories of the first and only gig my band did at school in the 80s, where we played that ⦠but not as well as you did
It certainly does! Great performance, both instrumentally and vocally. Your arrangement is outstanding, and so is the guitar sound.
I love to play The Beatlesā songs even though I usually stick to instrumental versions as Iām no singer
You did really well, sheer pleasure to listen to.
Regards
Great job, Dave. Iām sure the grandkids will love it.
I must admit this was one of the Beatles songs I used to think āwhy would they destroy their street credā but Iām over that now. (nearly).
Nice one Dave!
I always enjoy hearing you play and sing; always relaxed, always in the groove.
Your grandkids are very fortunate to have a grandfather like you. Theyāll never forget it.
Nice job there OHā¦
Very smooth and easy going from you on this one.
Good production, though it sounds like you have some layered guitars going there and maybe a video insert of the second guitar play might be a cool addition?
Hey Dave, good to see you again, strange that every time you pop up itās with an absolute banger!
Most enjoyable, great production, playingā¦ā¦ oh just everything
Love to see youāre still churning out these high-end productions, Man!
Impeccable playing, singing and production as usual, even if my body is still āreverberatingā a minute after the song finished )
Loved the solos. Sounded perfect to these lugs.
My only āniggleā is that, although Iām a great fan of the Fab Four, this ditty joins the Jaundiced Submarine and Oh Bloody-Dah in my āunmentionable playlistā
Maybe you should do When Iām Ninety Four and name-check your grandchildren?
Weāre just across the North Wales border, if youāre ever in the area. Iād roll out the red carpet!
Thanks, David. ā(even if the song doesnāt)ā - I hear you and know what you mean. I actually chose this one because itās a good sing-along, but when I got into it as a cover I learned a lot, which is always good. Hope all is well with you and youāre playing. Havenāt seen you other than the OMs.
Well, BC, thanks for those comments, but I donāt think that would work. I penned a song a while back called āIām Just a Poor Boy Playing My Guitarā, and part of one verse says
āI canāt play guitar with a baby on my kneeā Rather than a link, just search Iām Just a Poor Boy if you want to hear it. And that would be a wonder! Glad this one brought you a smile.
Glad it gave you an up Tomasz. And thanks for the arrangement and guitar sound comments. I thought about doing vox for the backups but decided no, Iāll just play some highlights on guitar, and that turned out to be a fun thing for me. Glad too that you had a pleasurable listen.
Hi, John. Thanks for the comments. One of the grandkids had mentioned this song to me so Iām sure weāll have a fun sing along.
I totally understand your comment about destroying their street cred, but then again it was really a Ringo song and you have to take that into account. Iāll use it for what itās worth. Glad you are (nearly) over it.
