Officially NGD - My SSS strat build

So officially it’s NGD

I built this SSS Strat-type guitar in January (with quite a lot of help/advice from members of the Justin Community !!).

You can read my build diary here:

However, it’s not officially NGD until you take some decent photos and finish up the last little bits. Now it’s complete. So what I can say, is that the neck is great, feels really nice to play (it’s definitely my easiest guitar to play) and the sound is really good (although I don’t know what a real strat should sound like!), which I mainly put down to the pickups I bought. You can see all the specs below as well as my photos of the final build. I’m sorry for posting so many photos but it’s the first time I built a guitar and I’m really proud of it.

Actually, although I have a lot of photography experience taking pictures of such a shiny object was quite challenging.

Specs:

Body: Hosco Vintage white SSS, alder, thin poly finish

Neck: Allparts AAA+ roasted flamed maple neck, rosewood fingerboard, c- shape, compound radius 12-16 inch, fingerboard, 25.5”, 22 jumbo frets 0.114 inch x 0.055 inch, modern 10mm tuning holes, neck thickness 0.85 inch (1st fret) 0.95 (123th fret), heel width 2-3/16 inches, nut width 1-5/8 inches, inlays glow in the dark dots.

Tremolo: Gotoh 510 TS-SF1 steel block 2 point tremolo

Tuners: Schaller M6 mini

Pickups: Tonerider Classic blues TRS3

Electronics: Tube amp doctor strat wiring upgrade kit. 250k vintage audio taper (30% LOG) cts dimple pots, switchcraft mono jack, CRL 5-way switch, 0.047 uF Sprague Orange Drop capacitor.

Neckplate: Göldo

Pickguard & backplate: Tiger brown (Boston) - I would have called it leopard brown and gold pearl

Knobs: Chrome and horn domed knobs Q-parts

very pretty! looks much cleaner than my build!

You will want to grind down the set screws on the saddles so they are flush or a bit below the saddle top when the strings are at a good height. As they are now, you will find light palm muting very difficult.

I like that the top of the knobs match the body but you still got Metal action going.

Man thats a nice looking axe.

Fine work.

Wauw, As somebody who creates digital things and music, I’m always in awe when I see people creating real physical pieces of art like these! The details look so fine and these pictures really invite me to grab it and play it if I could.

Yes, be proud, you should be!

Yeah now you’re just showing off.

Epic photography as well as a very attractive specimen you built.

Now go buy some second hand beat up shit spend 1hr screwing it all together, and you’ll have the degenerate punk rock guitar to sit next to this beautiful beast and balance you out.

admin note: edited out image, family friendly Community

That’s a good idea @FunkyFingers

A used strat, punk style with a neck humbucker is one of the next things on my list.
