And it was rushed because I did not care so it just goes to show I might just give it to Justin playing it forward :+1:

Do any of you know what happens if I paint over the finish on the sides? Should I just bite the bullet and figure out how to sand down the inner curves?

(I might be able to set up the old belt sander to fit inside there…)

As a veteran (Viet Nam, 1970-71) I appreciate the poppy sticker on there. :+1:

My dad and Uncle were both in 'Nam. My Uncle did not come back. My son is currently
deployed. (Elsewhere…) Thank you for your service.

Shoot, belt is too aggressive… Now what?

I have created a divot where none existed.

I was going to suggest using a foam type of hand held sanding form. My second suggestion was to start on the bottom away from a significant area needed for stability for neck. It looks significant, but maybe not as bad as it could have been. It wont be pretty but it could be salvaged IMO, I would try.

Get your metal neck plate and see if cut goes under that. If it does, how much? It looks like there is still some side wall for the neck to have a somewhat stable pocket, but its hard to tell. I would test fit that neck back in there, right now and see how tight it is. Only you can really know how it was before. Is it the same or much worse? If its still tight, then go on with project. If not, look for further ideas about what you can do to fix this. I am not a pro.

Wood is usually good for fixes, so you may be suprised about what tight bond glue and some good clamps can do. I dont mean glue in your neck. I mean if you lost enough body.

This is why we experiment and we practice, so we can learn on things that have already been victims of balloon accidents or picked up at yard sales or pawn shops for cheap.

Well, I am going to move forward, and hope for the best. I took off quite a bit but hopefully the screws will hold.

Hi Chip, it is so easy to repair, do precisely as you have done in the photo above, only use a bit of timber the same thickness as your body draw the curve put a straight line on, cut it out glue and clamp job sorted mate, and you will feel better for doing it
