I see on the app that there is a section of songs based on the strumming patterns and one of them is called “Old Faithful 2”. There is one song listed called “Whiskey in the Jar” by the Musopians. The difference between the Old Faithful (DDUUD) and version 2 is the addition of an upstrum on the and of beat 4 (DDUUDU).

OK, that makes more sense. Note that this additional up strum is usually played on open strings while your fretting hand is setting up for the next chord.
