I’m excited to share my latest cover of Willie Nelson’s “On the Road Again”.
I’ve been listening to this song for as long as I can remember, and it’s always been a favorite of mine.
This version uses slightly simpler chords than Willie plays, and it’s in the key of C. While it’s still a bit challenging for beginners due to the F-chord and D-minor, I find it suits my voice better. Unlike my buddy Johnny Cash, my voice doesn’t quite match up with Willie’s, but I hope you enjoy it nonetheless!
Sounding good brother! Couple of chords didn’t quite ring out the way you would like I’m sure. But other than that an excellent rendition!!! Well done! As far as the singing goes, don’t try the sing like Willy, sing like yourself! Willy is Willy, SRV is SRV and AC/DC is AC/DC. Use your voice don’t try to be like them…it will likely never happen ! Be yourself and own the song. Sounded good to my ears anyways!!
Nice one Tosh, can’t beat a bit of Willie Nelson!
When I first saw it I was thinking about the Canned Heat song with the same title , then I saw Willie Nelson and had to go look see - for some reason I hadn’t heard it before
David - thanks very much. Also appreciate the recording comment. I think I’ve finally dialed in the Audio Technica Condenser mic the way I like it. Added just a tiny bit of reverb and compression in Reaper.
Darrell - haha. yeah, slightly different song, right? That Canned Heat song is cool though. I wouldn’t have much luck singing that one! lol
Gordon - thanks very much for the listen. I do enjoy this genre and it does suit me.
Yeah, I was surprised to see Justin hasn’t done a lesson on this song. Would love to see his take. For what it’s worth, I used David Potts’s lesson on Songnotes.
