Percussive Blues - I learned new technique

Dear all,

I would like to share with you my latest skill that I am working on and I can see some shape so I am not shy to share anymore.

It is percussive hit with thumb while performing fingerstyle blues with walking base line.

I really like this piece, because it seems fun and vibe to me.

I can see where are my “gaps” and what to work on - like distance for thumb when going for hit or when I am switching from low E to A string.

I am really enjoying my time with Pioneer… a little bit too much. Last week it was daily hours… that my left wrist started to weak and injure little, so I had break for 2 days and now I am looking for some ganja/canabis/weed ointment. :shamrock:

Btw, I got really long hair… I need to cut them really soon. In my eyes I look really old here.

As someone who admires but doesn’t play percussive guitar, this is awesome!! Nice job

Lovely!

Do you have a mic inside the sound hole? My hits don’t sound like this, wondering if it’s all technique related, or there’s some other factor.

@Davey_T Thank you very much.

@Willsie Thanks. :slight_smile:

@Beatup6String Well Furch Pioneer is all solid and sound is really great. I recorded this to my external microphone Rode Video Mic GO II connected to iPhone 12.
But for this recording I did first ever little mix to sound. You can check other videos of mine so you can hear not edited sound, but with this I just cleared it a little.
Maybe if you share your technique video we can discuss it. I can already see there are many ways to do percussive hits.

Very nice my friend. You have a quite relaxed, cruisy vibe, which comes through in your playing. I’ve been enjoying all your performances.
Keep em comin young man.

Very well played Michal. Smooth and relaxed.
My only comment be to get out of the habit of constantly watching your fretting fingers.

@sairfingers Thank you. That is great point. I got times when I need and when not… for this tune I am not in that stage I dont need to watch anymore. But I am working on that.

Hey Carreta! Anybody that puts out a walkin’ bass line has me listenin’ so keep on with that.
Overall, I heard you playing a very enjoyable tune with this just now. Keep on because it does sound good!!

Sounds great, Michal!

At your age, “looking old” isn’t really a problem
