I recently explored some of the active pickup guitars with quick connect (plug and play) system. There is no soldering required, you unplug pickup and plug in different one if you want to change them. Good example is EMG 81 pickup.
So, the question is:
If I have an active humbucker with coil split (i.e EMG 57tw) in the guitar that is wired for spliting (tone pull/push) what would happen if I simply unplug that pickup and replace it with non-splitable active pickup (i.e. EMG 81)?
Will it work if the tone dial is down?
What will happen if I pull the tone dial up?
A non splitable pickup will only have 2 wires rather than 4 , so you wont have wires to connect to the relevant inputs on the splitter switch so it wouldnt work?

I think you will get nothing or no change. They really don’t say in the user guide what to expect.
Did you see the wiring documents?

I didn’t know this. If this is the case, not possible just to simply switch. Thank you!
Edit: After seeing the diagrams, there are 2 connectors as well for splitable but connectors are different, so not possible to simply switch.
Splitable connector has more wires inside indeed.
I did not see this, but it solves the mistery, I think. If I read it correctly, it is impossible to simply switch non-splitable for splitable pickups as connectors are different! You have to change the wiring as well. Thank you very much, I appreciate it!
