Playing with the original

Quick question learning to play living on an island by status quo downloaded the chords and it is in G watched a good video of Rick Parfitt playing on an acoustic and yes the chord sheet matches his shapes so why when I play along is my guitar a tone lower and I have had to put a capo on fret 2 to bring it up to the same pitch as the recording, Rick is not using a capo that I can see and what key does that bring it up to I know nothing about music theory as yet

Capo 2 G shape is A. To know what key you are in with a capo find the root note of the Chord you’re playing. G Chord shape 3rd note on E string up from capo.

If Rick is not using a capo his guitar is tuned up a full tone, he is using barre chords or you are tuned down a full tone.

I’m guessing Rick is using a different tuning. Reminds me when I followed Justin’s lesson of Patience by Guns n Roses and he didn’t mention it had a different tuning. Took me a while to figure that out

Rick my guitar is in standard tuning and watching the video Rick Parfitt is using open chords just wondered why it dint match up but now i know to put on the capo
