Please take the time to read this important announcement.
Justin provides the majority of his content for free and runs this Community with a pay-it-forward ethos. We are an inclusive space for everyone to learn guitar, make friends, and have fun—all we ask is that you engage with a positive attitude and follow these few ground rules.
=================================
Community Etiquette & Rules
- Respect Each Other: No personal attacks, belittling, or insults. We are a supportive group; please avoid pile-ons or collective negativity toward any member.
- Inclusive Environment: We have zero tolerance for sexism, misogyny, or any form of discriminatory language.
- Keep it Constructive: No trolling, flame-baiting, or starting flame wars. If a discussion becomes hostile, flag it and walk away rather than escalating.
- Topic Boundaries: To keep the peace and stay on track, please no politics or religion topics or comments. Note - we waive this rule if you share a recording of yourself playing a song whose lyrics are political.
- Language Standards: Keep profanity to a minimum. Do not use special characters (e.g., @#$%) to hide vulgarity.
- Support the Platform: Do not post links to competing guitar tuition sites or outside commercial initiatives. We are here to support the JustinGuitar ecosystem.
- Protect the Community: No ‘warez,’ pirated content, or the promotion/linking of illegal software and materials.

The JustinGuitar Community Code
THE DO’S
- DO help others as you improve: Remember we all started as beginners. If you know the answer to a struggle a newer player is having, pay it forward!
- DO share your progress: Post videos or recordings of your playing. This is a journey, and hearing your ‘honest’ progress inspires others.
- DO use the Search tool: Before starting a new topic, check if your question has been answered. It keeps the forum tidy and gets you an answer faster. There is nothing wrong in adding a new question to an older topic.
- DO use lesson-specific topics to ask about or comment on Justin’s lessons: Every JustinGuitar website lesson has a dedicated discussion topic. They are also directly accessible from the Community.
- DO keep titles descriptive: Use titles like ‘I’m struggling with keeping rhythm when I change chord’ instead of just ‘Help!’.
- DO report, don’t react: If you see a post that breaks the rules, hit the report flag. Let the moderators handle it.
THE DO NOT’S
- DO NOT flood the community: Avoid posting excessive topics or messages in a short period of time. This ensures all members get their voices heard and the volume of new posts is manageable. If you have more to add, please use the edit tool instead of creating a new post.
- DO NOT delete your posts without good reason: This community is a shared learning resource. Deleting posts (especially those with replies) removes valuable info that could help others. If you need a post removed, please flag it for a moderator.
- DO NOT start new topics in the lesson-specific categories: These subsections are reserved for topics created by Justin / Admin to discuss individual lessons in the JustinGuitar courses. Any user posts in these categories will be merged or moved.
- DO NOT post tabs or copyright material: To protect the site and respect creators, do not post full guitar tabs.
- DO NOT post your email or private info: This is a public space. Putting your email in a post is an open invitation for spam bots and scrapers.
- DO NOT use excessive ‘internet shorthand’: Hey! Just a heads up, sum ppl find it rly hard 2 read when u typ lik dis. We understand there are language barriers and everyone is more than happy to work around this. If English is not your first language, then just do the best you can.
Failure to follow the guidelines above may mean your post gets moved, edited, or deleted. You will not necessarily be notified if this happens.
