Possessed instrument

This uke used to be mine… I suspected it was possessed so I sold it… turns out I was right!!!

The snake in question is a carpet python snake, very common in the sub-tropics. I’ve heard it said the majority of houses in Brisbane (Qld), for example, would have a carpet python living in the attic. They are not poisonous although you can get a nasty infection from the bite.

Given some of the other critters antipodeans need to deal with that one is not so bad.

wow how beautiful :sunglasses:, I miss such beautiful large non-poisonous animals in this small
country … the small crawling swimming deadly creatures that come with them (apparently a package deal :grimacing:) I think is less bad that they are not here … Nice photo

Greetings :spider: :scorpion: :snake:

How decorative!
I wouldn’t necessarily like to have one in the house, though! :slightly_smiling_face:

Who needs to learn barre chords when you’ve got a python to grab that neck???

Presumably the python has to eat, so does that mean the majority of houses in Brisbane have mice/rats in the attic? Remind me to give that area a miss next time I’m in Oz!

Honestly, i wouldn’t know what to do being confronted with somehting like that.
But then again, we don’t have snakes in the wild were i live. And if we had, they’d be roadkill within minutes…

And he (?) already broke a string to boot. I hope this picture was not taken in a music store.

Plenty of critters in attics. We had a family of possums take roost in ours once. What a racket at night!

It was taken in a friend’s home

I thought the same, but if you zoom in you can see the C-string is there, just brown, so hard to see :face_with_monocle:

There are vipers living not all that far from you…

Reminds me of the joke about the octopus wrapped round a set of bagpipes. When asked what it was doing it replied “I’m trying to get these tartan knickers of it”.

Yeah, you might be right if you’re talking politicans… Sadly, they’re a bit harder to run over…

I’m well and truly talking about the reptile kind

I did a search on the web and it seems we only have 3 kinds of adders here…

Other species are kept as pets.

Never seen one though in my whole life. I think we destroyed their habitats along the way around here…

Three species of snakes, indeed. I have seen one once (not a viper). We sure did destroy their habitat in past decades. Another reason why snakes are seldom seen is simply that they tend to hide.

The viper colony at Groot Schietveld is one of the most important in western Europe, although it suffered after the big fire in 2021. The one at Kalmthoutse Heide is another important one. So yes, not many animals, but an important part of the European population (viper that is  ) nevertheless.

Around these parts (clay pit country / kleiputten (Rupelstreek)), never heard of such a thing.
I think the industry at that time had something to do with that…

I’ll keep my eyes open, next time i go walking in the Kalmthoutse heide.
Just took a look at the Groot Schietveld. Didn’t know that either.
Thank you very much for that update!

Thats what we say here in Arizona. If you have rattlesnakes on your property, its because they came for the rodents.

Nah, I’m out on that. It may be a cool snake it may not be a cool snake. I don’t really care. I don’t want those babies living in my attic, coming down stairs and trying to “romance” my guitar. I’m simply out…as in not into it. LOL…
Possessed…yep. And I don’t even believe in that stuff.
