Written by Tom Petty. Fits some of the USA presidential elections rhetoric…
I’m an Indy. Two days ago I was listening to the alblum Hypnotic Eye and thought, wow that seems to describe things here on this side of the pond.
Robert
Fantastic variation of sound from your guitar: clever strummimg, muting, hammer on etc. A fine version of a good song. Very enjoyable.

What a super cover, Robert. So much variety packed into it. Loved it.
Very very cool Robert!
Really nice work Robert!
Great cover Robert, and very well played … … and my, your strumming hand and those fretting fingers were certainly busy up and down the fingerboard.
As for the US election …
Well done …
I liked the track a lot. A seldom covered TP song and you covered it well. Nice tone and tempo.
To each and everyone: Thank you for responding on this take! Each response, I feel, is a true gift. Seeing and reading what you think means so much to me. And educates me and encourges me.
Yes I made up some of it up, maybe arranged a bit (the vid is my first recorded take) to fit the song; it’s Tom Petty’s, and he is a hero.
I’m also thankful to Justin for creating and giving to us wantabees such a great, fantastic community.
It only works when folks like you provide critical response…and that pure gold encouragment.

I’ve never heard this one before, it really suited your voice, thematically and musically. Really enjoyable listen. It’s a dry, hot afternoon here and it really felt like the right kind of music to be listening to.
Don’t have any critical feedback I’m afraid. Sounded great! Thanks for sharing.
Thank you Robert!
Didn’t know this one either, made me aware to check more of his albums (I have three, I think, and like him a lot).
Having read your intro text, I had to laugh after the first line. That kind of laugh that could also have been a crying.
But that subject aside, I really enjoyed your rendition! The sound somehow was only on the left channel. It struck me, because I had headphones on and then switched to loudspeakers.
I am looking forward to hear/see more of you!
All the best,
Dominique
Very well done! I’m a Petty fan and have never heard this one before… Thanks for introducing me to it!
Hi CC,
A high school classmate of mine ventured to Australia back in the late 70s; I’ve only seen him once since then. He loves his life in Perth.
I spend most of my good times in my hometown of Charleston, South Carolina USA. It’s called the Lowcountry and it’s mostly hot and drippy humid. Hot 'n Dry sounds good…almost!
Thanks for writing back and, of course, listening. Wish I could visit Australia…just read Flea’s book, which recounted his early days growing up Aussie.
If you play, please send me something! _R
I moved from South East Queensland down to South Australia, so only last year did I have an experience with hot and dry. It is actually easier to cope with than humidity. Although, it gets quite brutal!
I haven’t been working on anything for an AVoYP lately, just practicing, but I’m getting the itch so I’ll try to remember to tag you when I get around to uploading something new. Thanks again for your excellent performance.
Hey CC Please share when you hit on something!
I’ve been working on some original lyrics, a song I call “Play, Play Play” which isn’t about playing guitar or music but a pup I took care of named Radish during her first 10-13 weeks of new life. Her human parents were away traveling in Italy.
Today she is 14 months and ever so full of herself. I just visited her after 8 months away and it is so magical that she really knows me.
Hope to line it up and upload a viable song. The actual order of the chord changes were written by Greg Allman but the timing and focus points are mine. I’m hoping it will be like I started with good bones but laid over the joy of being a new puppy.
I still don’t know how to write a song, but I do love sharing.
Thanks CC for responding and encouraging. CAN’T WAIT to see your next performance! _R
