Preludes for guitar

Hi there and merry chrismas everyone,

i was looking for some books for some easy Preludes or Etudes for the Guitar. I remember those short-(ish) pieces from learning the Piano.
I am simply overwhelmed by all the books. I would like something with notes, if there tabs too, fine. Absolute beginner level would be great for a start.

Anything recommendations?

Thank you

M.

Hi Magdalena.
Justin Guitar is a great place to start a guitar learning journey.

This is where I started for my reintroduction to guitar playing.

Hi, i am working my way through grade 3 right now. I should have mentioned in the OP.
I thought of some classical pieces for classical guitar to step out of my rock’n’roll comfort zone. It is so much out there that i cant decide what to go for.

As for the classical music, that’s outside my realm. Hope ya find what your looking for.

Justin does not have any classical lessons on the website, so I am quite comfortable recommending Marco Cirillo. His early lessons were mainly classical and there was a 7 day course based on a number of classical etudes, though he has branch out in to other genres in recent years,

Mods feel free to redact but I don’t think this treads on any toes.

Hi Magdalena, you can download a free pdf of this Classical Guitar Method Book

Free Classical Guitar Method Book (PDF) | This is Classical Guitar Free Classical Guitar Method Book (PDF) | This is Classical Guitar

There are a few interisting arpeggio pieces in there - with video lessons on YouTube.

There’s a Beginner version of the Leyenda Theme (Asturias) too which is not crazy difficult, if you like it. And the Malaguena etc.

Hope this helps.

I don’t think either Toby. It’s good to share good resources.

Thanks for starting this thread @Levtrona It could turn into a great resource for the more classicaly-minded of us here in the community. To add to @Silvia80 's excellent suggestion, I’ve found the following useful. As usual with classical material, you may need to purchase some of these (or do some digging around for a pdf):

I’m always on the look-out for materials at the easier end of the classical repertoire so I’d be delighted if anyone else had suggestions. I’d imagine there are older methods/materials from Sir, Carcassi etc that I haven’t explored. Another way to approach this would be to look up the syllabus for the Trinity, ABRSM etc schools and, if they list the pieces for Grade 1, find and play those. Many of them would be public domain at this stage.

There’s Mauro Giuliani’s 120 picking hand studies.
Various ways to access online in tab form (try Songsterr) and in video format (try this one for example).
