Preparing for our School Party

Who wasn’t wishing for some nursery rhymes today? Hahaha

We’re preparing for our School Party on June, 3rd and these are two of the three songs we’ve been learning. I might record the third one and add it later here.

Clip 1 is a short butterflies’ dance, one among children’s favourites.
Lyrics
If you are sad, you lack happiness
Chase away the melancholy
Come with me, I will teach you
The song of happiness BOM BOM BOM
Flap your wings, move your antennae,
give me your little paws
Fly here and fly there
The song of happiness BOM BOM BOM

Clip 2 is the product of my messy creativity :joy: and collects most of the job on the four seasons of this year (English for 5yo group). Apart from Rain Rain Go Away I had to work out the chords myself, as I couldn’t find them on the Internet - luckily because it was a good and not so difficult exercise for me…and also I had to simplify the lyrics . We played the tunes mostly on the Uke during the year in the key of C, with some little instruments for the kids as well to keep the beat…my colleague preferred the key of A for this Medley and I could gladly content her, except for I thought it nice to waltz from Winter to Spring with a little help from my friend Carulli  …so I also had to work out a switch from the key of A to the key of C. Big thanks to Richard @Richard_close2u for explaining the function of a Pivot Chord last summer.

You need to imagine there right on the “it’s cold!” the children gently fall asleep on the floor, a little lullaby, then waking up and a little bit of 123 waving when they hear the walts begins. I’m afraid I’m really unable to rock properly into the summer, so any suggestions is welcome!
Also, so annoying I so often drop the final S on plurals when I sing in English :hear_no_evil_monkey: …I really need to fix this!

Any advice on technique or anything else is always appreciated! And easy-to-do ideas to improve that clumsy final “pretended rock” thing as well (I can’t play Power Chords btw).

Pleasant performance(s) as ever. The melody you sing above the strumming from about 2:07 is used in the UK for another Nursery Rhyme, ‘London Bridge is Falling Down’. The range of accompaniments for your Four Seasons Melody shows your ever developing skills. Well played.

The intention was both to keep on developing my skills while trying to give each season its own feeling…so for example the “fast” fingerpicked notes in Rain Rain go away in my mind should recall the incessant rain on an autumn day and the light thumb strumming should make spring as light as the fly of a butterfly…kind of :grimacing:

Michael… it’s not possible, you’re too grown up :joy:

I love it too Pamela :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:

THANK YOU EVERYBODY! :grinning_face_with_big_eyes: @DavidP @Willsie @sairfingers …sharing is one of the best part of the journey! :smiling_face_with_sunglasses:

Great performance, Silvia.
I really like you added percussive element too.

That was wonderful Silvia, kids would love the party! For transition from spring to summer, you could first bring spring to almost stop and then slide on low E down and up the neck and start summer with a bit of tempo.

Nice! You are going to inspire some kids to take up the guitar!

I have shared this before, one of the fishing Youtubers that I follow ends his videos with this line:
“Make sure to go out and encourage someone. You never know how you just might change their life.”

I think you are doing this in a big way. Well done!

Thank you! @Carreta @twistor59

Thanks Boris, I was hoping to have some suggestions! I can imagine it, I’ve never done something of the kind but I will try, there’s always a first time for anything, right? If I manage to learn it the kids will love it!

Thank you Clint, I’m trying my best, avoiding overdoing and trying to find a good balance between educational purposes and just having fun and being a bit messy :see_no_evil_monkey:
