Some snow at last

The place where I was born. Such a pity I have such a bad camera! If you zoom you’ll see the mountains behind the sea all covered with snow!

And here you need to zoom to see the very thin moon
for real it was just amazing!

Were you in the Cardhu distillery James?

It has been raining for a couple of days. We have a break before the next storom so I got out for another nice little hike this morning. It was crisp and felt so nice.

Saguaro cactus skeleton.

The Saguaro are so majestic Its wild it takes them hundreds of years to really get large with multiple arms.

So nice pictures, especially the first one :slightly_smiling_face: How cold does it get in the desert?

Thanks, it was just with a cell phone camera.

For temps, down here in Southern Arizona where I live at 3600 feet (1100m) above sea level, we usually do not get lower that 30 to 32 degrees FÂș (0 CÂș) but that changes very quickly in the mountains or in the Northern part of the state above the Mogollon Rim which splits the state in half. Above the rim it is more high desert to alpine with yearly snow and winter conditions, as are the Mountains locally to me. Those tower from the desert floor up to 11,000 feet (3352 meters). The United States most southern ski/snowboard mountian is just next to my city, Mt. Lemmon summit of the Santa Catalina mt range. They call these mountains sky mountains. The one in the background in my photo is not one of these type this is just a little hill, Arizona is very mountainous.

Edit: these “cold” temps are obviously nothing close to yours in the Nordic nations or Northern part of North America or Far South america like south Chili or Argintiana. :joy::call_me_hand:t2:

We went visiting my family in the weekend and today in the afternoon we had a lovely walk in Monterosso - Cinque Terre. Despite it wasn’t a sunny day, quite greyish too, the colours in the sky were just amazing.

I love this thread, pictures catch the eye without needing to read
but also I like reading and get to know more about eachother places or nice places visited

Went to Tintagel Castle, Cornwall last week, (we were there for the week) mainly to see the King Arthur statue. Well worth the visit. More details at Gallos (sculpture) - Wikipedia

Cornwall :heart::smiling_face_with_three_hearts: I spent 4 months there when I was young, working as waitress in the Restaurant of a very elegant hotel in Constantine Bay
btw I served Broccoli to a certain cousin of the Queen!

And I visited Tintagel, but the statue wasn’t there back then in 2000. I remember I visited a medieval Jail , which was most interisting too, I’m pretty sure it was this one

Wow that is very cool. I love the historical interesting places in the European countrys. I love history and especially of that time period. It would be so interesting walk the bridge and visit Tintagel Castle and Constantine Bay. I would especially like to go down and see the Merlins Cave.

I would certainly like to also visit Bodmin with its own history, and of course enjoy some broccoli @Silvia80 before braving the spectors of the Bodmin Jail. :grinning_face_with_big_eyes:

Don’t know Constantine Bay but looks like one for next time. We also went to The Lost Gardens of Heligan (https://www.heligan.com/) and their Night Garden Experience which is well worth a visit.

https://www.bodminjail.org/ Another one we did last week. Well worth a couple of hours!

This is a photo that has created a bit of a buzz lately in certain fields.
It is a planned photo of a skydiver captured against Sol using a Hydrogen Alpha solar telescope. The detail in the crop is just gobsmacking!

That is such a super radical photo. It is probably one of the coolest things I have seen this year.

Edit
I was just looking at the article. That ISS transit and the Sun Flare photos are pretty rad too. :call_me_hand:t2:
