Rechargeable Travel Amp for busking?

Hi folks,
I am starting to gear up to give busking a go… Scary!

But I don’t have an amp that is not dependent on electric cords… And I really don’t want to lug a long extension cord around!

Do any of you have experience with or recommendations for small travel amps?

Any advice at all would be most appreciated!

There are many positive reviews of the Joyo Jam Buddy II on YT. I personally haven’t tried it, but I think it may meet your requirements. Definitely worth checking out!

Good luck.
The buskers go-to amp has long been the Boss Cube Street.

The Jam Buddy won’t be loud enough for busking among people, traffic, street noise etc.

I use a Spark 2 when I can’t get power. Loud and excellent battery life. Not the cheapest - you need to buy the battery separately.

I’ve been very happy with mine.

many buskers I see in town use a battery-powered PA speaker if they use anything at all (many are straight acoustic). can’t speak to the model(s), but something like this at least gives you the ability to include a mic.

Thanks @Richard_close2u ! Didn’t think about that part if the equation… blush

@mathsjunky Hmm… I have heard good thing about the Sparks brand… Do you find it light enough to carry around and loud enough for outdoor use? Thanks, Paul!

@Mustela Thanks, Nate - I didn’t even think about using different gear…

@Coda Thank you Tomasz! Lots of positive buzz about this for practice amp! I really like that is has lots of features in an inexpensive format.

Cheers, guys! I appreciate you chiming in!

With the battery pack it’s about 6kg / 13lb. It’s rated at 50w, although that doesn’t mean much - I don’t find it a good way to gauge loudness. It’ll be loud enough outdoors no problem at all - I’ve used it in a full band practice with drums/keys/guitars/bass - it’s not lacking volume

I have an Roland AC 33. Small and light - takes batteries and sounds great. Plug in vox and guitar

I don’t busk, but I use a Vox Mini Go 10 as a practice amp. While you can plug it in, I use a small rechargeable battery pack that I had laying around to power it.

if it’s acoustic guitar and vocals I need to amplify, I use the JBL Eon One Compact.

I recently purchased a Nux SA-100 Street Artist, I love it, really ticks the boxes for what I’m doing currently and should see me well off into the future I would imagine.

Thank you one and all!

I had no idea there was so much to choose from!

AER make a recharable amp which sounds great but costs a LOT. I had one but think it’s on permanent loan to Jedi!

I also have a small Bose which is bettery powered and sounds great. Think you can replace the battery too so might be useful for longer sessions!

Bose S1 Pro + and Mackie Showbox and Fishman series if focused on acoustic only
