I’m HUGE lover of podcasts. I probably listen to at least 1-2 a day and have others that I rotate through weekly on a variety of topics. The only subject of interest that I haven’t been able to find a show to listen to is music/guitar- so the idea of a JustinGuitar podcast definitely appeals to me.
That being said, I’m thinking that if it ends up being titled “The JustinGuitar Podcast” (or something to that effect), that others outside of the community would expect Justin to be more involved/host. I think if you titled it something that implies that it’s associated with Justin but not actually his show (kind of like how he has both his YouTube channel and the Community channel) that it could work. I don’t know what that title would be I’m mostly just thinking out loud here.
I’ll add +1 for what others have said about it being more of a conversational style where people can talk about their lives as musicians etc… without it being actual lessons that could be hard to convey in an audio only format.
If you do it, I’ll be one of your first listeners!
I think it could be a useful addition to the regular lessons. I can’t speak about the Live Clubs as I haven’t followed any up to now, but I think a podcast would cover other topics/topics from a different angle than the Live Clubs and therefore could well complement those. I don’t think the host should mather that much, as long as the contents has enough interest. I will be trying them out, with or without Justin.
While it’s true that conenctrating on 2 tasks at once is a myth, that doesn’t bother me when listening to podcasts. I’m a runner, and I listen to podcasts while running. I manage just fine concentrating enough on the podcast and at the same time putting one foot in front of the other
I know what you mean Brian and Toby. But that’s because there is no control over what is out there. There are some really good well thought out podcasts. Is there enough time in life to listen, discard and find the good ones. No. But you could say the same about old fashioned books.
Hey Toby. I must be one of the most non IT savvy members of this Community. I was born in the year BC (before computers) but I enjoy a podcast whilst cutting the grass or whatever. That’s assuming of course I’ve been able to find the correct cable to charge my phone up!
Well Toby, I’ve just had an email from Sky saying my street can now access full fibre broadband at umpteen mega somethings a second. Does that mean the podcast will be finished before I’ve had time to finish cutting the grass?
Honestly, I am so old that podcast is what you do flyfishing with a hand-tied green fly. (It looks like a pea pod!) Great for bass and sturgeon, not so much for trout…
Most of my “down time” is spent listening to music and searching for ways to improve my grandkids’ educational opportunities. (They love Death Metal, btw…)
So having a podcast available, geared toward my interests or not, is rarely going to impinge on my consciousness. Regardless of any benefit I might get otherwise.
I would think that if you have a passion for it, folks who share that passion would listen. So, fo for it. (Just don’t wait for me to show up!)
I’d prefer a video podcast over an audio podcast. If you want to listen just don’t look at the screen. If I need another medium to listen to while I do some mundane stuff like housework I’ll listen to some music.
I didn’t pick that up from your original post - I think it will depend on what the hosts are like on the podcasts then. Often the difference between whether a podcast is great or dull is how it’s hosted rather than the topic.
Yes, I also read about that and thought that you were going to do this together… looking for topics, etc., etc., but that it would be Justin who was going to host this … I see that I’m not the only one who thinks that
There’s a lot going on every where here, one thing hasn’t been running smoothly for a few weeks and I read every week about the enormous busyness you have and are buried among the many things yet to be done as a team and the next project is already starting or thinking off … Yes, I know you have to strike while the iron is hot ,but be careful not to burn your fingers…
