I have been shopping for a decent left handed guitars to learn on, have some fun with and still be a fun guitar as I develop my skill.
I found a Les Paul style guitar made by a brand called Revelation Guitars, it’s on a clearance price. Apparently the company is no longer making guitars. From what I have found online is that the company based in the UK and partnered with a guitar company in china for production. Google info is limited, although I did find the company website and some dated reviews. Reviews seem generally positive.
I’m wondering if anyone has had experience and knowledge regarding Revelation Guitars?
Specifically, I’m looking at a Revelation RTL-59 Lefty, a Les Paul copy, for $525 Canadian. I’m assuming there is no warranty, as the sell stated Revelation is no longer in production. If anyone has a general sense of how these guitars compare in terms of sound and build to Epiphone’s (Gibson) Les Paul I would love to hear your thoughts on the guitar and the price value.
Unfortunately, any guitar I want to buy is going to be an online purchase as my local shops have a very poor to nonexistent selection of left handed guitars. So I’m trying to do as much background research as I can.
Hello Janice!
I’m not only not familiar with Revelation Guitars but haven’t even heard of them…
As a general rule, I shy away from companies that have stopped production/going out of business. It’s generally pretty easy to find something similar with a warranty from a company that is staying in the market. I am not a lefty but last year purchased a guitar from All In One guitars aka AOI. They have a lot of left handed models. Would something like this interest you?
When you call to order, they ask your preferences & do a custom setup. My tele came to me in better shape than my Gibson Les Paul that Gibson had performed a PLEK job on, I’m not kidding! It was Perfect!
Here’s the link to their website All In One Guitar | Guitar & Bass l Premium Setup On Every Order I’d check them out before buying something iffy…
They’re based in Los Angeles, but ship all over the world - their flat-rate shipping to Canada is $69 (presumably US dollars).
By the way, they have a LOT more choices than my screen shot provides… different colors, some variance in price & other guitar styles (SG, Tele, ES-335, PRS etc).
Good luck with whatever you end up choosing!!!
I am the same as Tod Janice, but I am sure for around about the same value for money you will be able to get a brand that is better known and probably better quality cheers Hec
Sire Guitar is a highly regarded brand and has a full range of left handed guitars on offer. I know that the images in these listing show righties but look at the model designations, all of the lefties have an LH appended on to the end of model name.
Not sure if you’ve already found them in your search, but Southpaw Guitars in Houston stocks entirely lefty instruments (they have hundreds) and do also have an online store. I can’t speak to whether they ship to Canada, but it’s continental North America, so it’d be worth asking.
