Hey guys, heres some exercises I personally like doing, ive gotten alot slower/sloppy on the johnny b goode rhythm/lead, I like practicing it every once and a while just to have some fun. As for the other its a little twist on the superstition song i like to practice as well. They both are really fun!!!
Hey Byron, sounds great!
I’d like to try myself, but - sorry - I can’t do any of it now - will have to probably practice lots and lots before - but do you possibly have a link to a Superstition tutorial the way you do it? Sounds difficult, but I really like Stevie Wonder a lot and would like to do that one day!
I liked both of those. I know Johnny be Good. What is the second song?
I am always impressed when people can make those transistions from shuffles to licks and back well. Great job, thanks for the share.
I think yours is a great idea for a guitar challenge, Byron. I practice rhythm/lead changes quite a lot; unfortunately none of those songs. Would you admit an entry with a different song, just played with the same principle in mind?
Hi Byron, these aren’t rhythms that I could do right away, but I could see myself doing these this year. I have a few TABs of Johnny B Good, but not of Superstition. I guess that your Superstition version is inspired by the SRV collaboration with Stevie Wonder? Both of your rhythm exercise recording are good, the tunes are recognizable, and the playing is clean but sloppy in a couple of spots. The original Superstition rhythm I think has a little more syncopation (strums off the beat) with stronger muting Of course it is hard to replicate SRV
I just play these for excercise I know my playing isn’t perfect per se my hand was getting tired from playing both of these lol. I use to play these better in my younger years. I just like to do these jams as it builds strength for me!
I’m really sorry; I asked my question thinking you’d opened a guitar challenge topic; now, when the topic is in the AVoYP subsection, the question’s become irrelevant. Please disregard it.
I did kinda mean for it to be a challenge sorta guess one of the mods moved it. I mean I have more bluesy rhythms/lead if you’d like to hear or unless you have a song in mind that you like. I suppose the challenge I was trying to put out was different licks/lead to songs is what I was getting at and good coordination songs to help build with and dex/strength
Oh, I thought you could point me simply at a youtube tutorial! So you figured it out yourself? Great! Of course I would like to see a video, but that’s quite some work, I didn’t want to ask that of you!
Oh, sorry for the moving.
I’m not sure why it was moved.
In the challenges, it states:
“Open invitations to play a song, an improvisation etc. Just for fun. NOTE The challenge is to yourself. All abilities encouraged.”
But to be honest, I wasn’t sure what the challenge consisted in exactly:
Was it to play the same patterns you did?
I’m sorry if I’m slow to catch on!
You can still ask Richard, the moderator why he moved it and what you should change to install a challenge according to the forum guidelines. Richard is a very nice and helpful person!
