Might be a silly question, but do we strum both strings when using the rolling technique ? When rolling onto a fret below or above. Thanks
I suppose it’s okay as long as you’re muting the string you rolled off of, but that’s not the intent.
I would say typically not. As I understand it you roll off one string onto the one above or below, muting it, picking individual notes. Hitting both strings suggests to me a double-stop when you want both notes to sound together.
Rolling is done when picking individual strings, not strumming across multiple strings. Occasionally you may hear a little of the sound of one bleed into the other but if you want both at once you lay a finger flat for a double stop.
Thanks all for the replies. Well thats where the confusion is. I understand the muting part and the mechanics but im unable to sound out the second string on an electric or its extremely low, barely audible.
Which is why I asked if you pick both strings one after the other aka you pick the one you are rolling from and then also pick the one you are rolling onto and thats what im gathering by the responses !
