Lovely tribute but where is the Strat ?
Never heard of him before, until now. Thank you very much, i’ve learned something new today.
Where’s the strat? Good question, but i looked at 2 random vid’s of him playing live, and in both, he’s playing a telecaster…
So maybe he had a collection of guitars, but this one made it to the media circus?
Nice one Toby, Rory was mesmerising.
I find it a pity that the statue doesn’t really look like him, but a least it is not as terrible as the recent waxwork of Sinead o’ Connor in Dublin which was thankfully withdrawn
+1
I suspect the artist was commissioned for the statue and they simply picked what they thought was an evocative image to work from, and didn’t really know about or appreciate the how significant the Strat connection to Rory’s legacy is.
The article Toby linked refers to this photo as ‘the inspiration’
I suppose if they’d done it with a strat, some folks would be saying it should have been the tele he was playing with…
Art is a matter of taste, but this does nothing for me.
Why the breasts?
I’m glad it wasn’t just me but thought it best to not to bring them up here ! He did put a bit of weight on towards the end of his life. Do moobs moot ?
My clumsy way of saying they had no idea who Rory was.
