Leo IS playing his own guitar as always. Not sure why you would think this is midi as the Croc always play on his covers and original material ???
@MaX1
Hi Max,
You are the second person who doubts that the solo is played on the guitar.
Can’t figure out why. Maybe you don’t like my guitar sound processing.
I don’t use Guitar Pro (I Googled what is it with interest ) or anything like that. I have a good old customized Ibanez
@TheMadman_tobyjenner
Oops, they beat me to it
Leo
Got your back sir. Doubt its your processing Leo that was spot on my friend.
That is not real guitar playing.
Is this some kind of in joke or something?
Rob you obviously don’t know Leo who has been a Community member for several years and been involved with countless collaborations with other members over that time. Not quite sure where you are coming from or why and by the comments very much in the minority.
And yet not unique and I also have ears.
And they are but your ears alone. But heck if that what you think hey ho. I’ve worked with Leo in the past on many projects, as have many old members and he is a genuine player and would not be out to con people here. But you always have your point of view Rob so stick with it if you feel a need.
Maybe Max was following your lead, just a thought ?
@TheMadman_tobyjenner
Thank you, Toby, for taking time to answer here. I can’t even imagine what would make me study some kind of guitar pro program and use it
@RobDickinson , @MaX1,
Well, guys, I’m going to ask myself a couple of questions.
Have I used guitar pro or something similar? NO.
Is this solo played on a real guitar? YES.
Now I’ll tell you some details. If you are interested, find the link to this solo demo below. This is the sound that was received at the output of my tonport Line 6 UX1, before the processing in Cubase. There is no guitar background noise at all, because I used a neck Seymour Duncan humbucker pickup in the single format. And my Ibanez is perfectly shielded. But it also has a drawback - an old tremolo.
Therefore, the guitar does not keep up well, and even tremsetter does not help. It is necessary to check the guitar tuning after each swing of the tremolo lever and correct it if necessary. This is a real headache
Because of this, I record solos in short chunks. But there is also a plus in this situation - I can dampen the “extra” strings with pieces of foam rubber to eliminate artifacts. I’ve heard that some professional guitarists in the studios do something similar
In this demo, I have already removed almost all the noise that was originally there, sorry. But not quite everything. If you’re interested, you can hear some artifacts that, I believe, can only be on a real fingerboard. For example, 0:08, 1:02, 1:35, 3:11, 3:20, 4:38, 4:43. Perhaps this will help you change your mind.
Well, one day I’ll have to buy a new tremolo and start leaving all the artifacts on the track
Keep on rocking,
Leo
Great tune - I’m not familiar with it at all, but I love a slow grinding shuffle beat (actually I prefer it to the medium tempo bouncy bouncy shuffles!)
Was the solo improvised/composed or transcribed from the original?
@twistor59
thank you, Phil.
I’ve transcribed this solo using Transcribe! but original key is A, and mine is E because of my vocal range.
Leo
Well worth it, the guitar work is great!
No Toby, I base my opinion on what I hear with my ears and one well-known test - “duck test” but everyone probably remembers
I have a pretty good understanding of guitar sound, and I can easily distinguish real guitar playing from samples, plugins and other things . And here it makes absolutely no difference what kind of guitar it was Fender, Gibson or Ibanez, and even more so how much the tremolo is killed on it.
If the author wanted to hide this, it probably should have been done more carefully, but it is best to gain skills in the traditional way, it will be better for the listeners, and especially for yourself.
Max Sorry mate Leo has been playing many years. So I am sorry but I believe both you and Rob are wrong but entitled to your opinions. Leo’s worked with many folk in the community going back over 10 years. But hey each to his own.
I see you have only just joined the Community, so it would be good if you could introduce yourself to everyone and share your guitar experience. HERE
Well Crock,
I think you broke some new ground here, on this one. I liked your mix, guitars up, lead pronounced, drums and bass just right INHO. Your lead work is perhaps the best I have heard from you. I think going on your own has allowed you to grow into your guitar work more and it sounds very good.
I guess we can let you skate this time, for there is not a lot of blues going down around these parts. You did them justice mate!
All the best and be well,
LB
Leo, while I consider all of your solo posts top shelf in every respect, this one for me is really in your lane. Your vocal combined with fantastic music track takes the cake. The only nit is you should have included the other box. Absolutely great performance.
@LBro , @oldhead49
Thank you, friends.
Yes, this piece of music required a lot of effort and time from me
I’m glad you liked it.
Leo
