Sad News! I've played the blues)

Hello people!
And tell me, is the blues still held in high esteem here, am I not too late? :wink:
Because it dawned on me that I’ve never played real true blues.
So I decided to rehabilitate myself. I chose this Kim Simmonds and Savoy Brown piece because it has the right blues rhythm (in my opinion).
I played riffs on Fender Tele-, solos on Ibanez with tremolo. The bass is, as always, on Fender Jazz Bass.
Listen to it and I’m sorry if this cover is too long :grinning: I’ve already shortened it by one box.
Keep on rocking,
Leo

Hi Leo.
That was a long song…listened to it while cleaning out the dishwasher…and I have to say it was a shame for me it ended …

Greetings

Great recording, Leonid. Enjoyed it a lot!

Hey Leonid!

I’m listening to your post for the 2nd time while I write this… cool recording!!! Love the vibe, the bass line, the rhythm… everything was spot on!!! Your vox fits the piece & your solos complement everything else very well. No criticism here, just appreciation! Thanks for posting this!

I’m curious, when laying down tracks like this, what is your method? If I read your post correctly, YOU are the backing track!!! I’m guessing the bass would be first, followed by rhythm guitar, then solo, then the vocals… is that about it? Soon I am going to attempt recording myself with a DAW but still have a bit to go & a lot to learn before taking a stab at it!

Thanks,

Tod

Thanks, Tod!
I always start a new project with drums, then add bass.
But this time, after drums, I recorded a rhythm guitar, which is in the right channel. Then the bass, then the riffs in the left channel, then the solo. The last one was the vocals.
That’s the order, nothing complicated.
I wish you a successful recording of your project,
Leo

Uh is that guitar pro 7 playing the guitar? It sounds like a sequenced midi instrument

@Silvia80
thank you for feedback :slightly_smiling_face:

@RobDickinson
Guitar Pro 7? No, Rob. I don’t have such a program, I’ve never used it.
But I’ve got Transcribe!, it helps to shoot the solo by ear. It’s very simple!
The solo was played on a customized Ibanez (Seymour Duncan pickups, scaloped fingerboard)
I suppose it makes no sense to talk here about the effects that I used when recording solos and post-processing :slightly_smiling_face:
Keep on rocking,
Leo

Absolutely love it, Leo, you can definitely play the blues, no rehab necessary! I could have listened to several more solos, not too long at all.

This is great Leo!

@Mari63 , @TheCluelessLuthier ,
thank you very much :slightly_smiling_face:

Fantastic Leo. Rest assured the blues will be forever popular here.

Such great vibes, tones, riffs and licks plus pro production that is just spot on!

Wow that was crazy! Thank you for the inspiration! That was great!

Great stuff Leo, not heard anything Savoy Brown for a very long while, it’s brought back fond memories of my youth and seeing them live. They have seemed to become a forgotten band for some reason, I suppose it’s the general lack of the interest for the Blues by the masses……… oh well (as Fleetwood Mac would say) their loss!

Hi, really good vocals, I also really liked the rhythm section and the sound of the mix, but… in my opinion the midi guitar sound is not what would be needed for blues (Guitar Pro or another sequencer?) A real guitar would be preferable here.
