Hi Guitar friends! I’m very happy to share some more about my ambitions of learning to arrange and play chord melodies!
I hope the innacuracies (and there are a few) won’t be too much disturbing to your ears
…so much “work” is still needed, not only on technique but above all to be able to be 100% immersed in the Music and reject any thought that comes and interrumpts it!
This is an old italian classic, I approached it in the simplest of ways rhythmically by applying simple rhytmical patterns, in order to let the melody sing out clear…it’s thus a simple arrangement…well I’m not able to do complicated things anyway hahaha
That was lovely Silvia. The piece was filled with really nice melodic runs and I loved how you were left waiting for the next one when you gave the soft strum. Also I notice your freting hands “economy of movement” (is that a thing) is really improved since your first videos. You are much more smooth and the notes really flow. Thanks for posting, it is always a pleasure.
I really admire your approach to developing your own chord melodies, I enjoyed your arrangement and your playing thank you.
I think it would sound really lovely on your Classical guitar, the melody part would sound more mellow and legato - I don’t know if you have a Classical guitar capo though?
Your arrangements keep on getting better with each and every new post. It is obvious that you are not only putting in the effort but also enjoying the process as a whole. It shines through in every note you play. That’s admirable. a few more runs through, and it will get smoother and smoother. But from delivery of the feeling, it’s already there!
Hi Silvia ,
Yes, of course, there is still quite a bit of room for improvement, but certainly immediately recognizable and already nice pieces that run well here and there… this is definitely going to be a great one from you keep on with this please ,and make it a favorite of mine … thanks for the inspiration, because one day I follow you with this one
Well ,not from origine
but of course still a classic in many countries and I certainly know the Italian version…beautiful …
Such a great performance of another beautiful tune
I still have your lovely (and funny) song about the waltzing midge in my ears - and now you come up with this great video.
I love the meoldy - and you played it so well with lots of feeling and great timing.
You really have an awesome repertoire of beautiful Italian songs.
Wonderful Silvia. Because I’ve been around long enough I can say that I can imagine this being played in the soundtrack of a Vittorio De Sica film. So enjoyable!
You all lovely people tend always to be overkind to my “performances”…
…please just keep on doing that, I appreciate it really, the pats on my shoulders, the constructive feedback, the words of praise and of acknowledgement of my efforts to improve.
That said, I’ll soon reply individually to all of you
That’s what matters really, thank you so much Brian, you always write encouraging words, to me and to many who post their recordings. It means so much!
I’m surely able of that and feels amazing…untiI something happens and I mess things up Nevermind…I’m here to learn and improve! Thanks for your comment Maggie, I much appreciate it!
This is true Jason that’s what happens when one keeps going and along the way builds fingers strenght and gradually becomes aware of more things…even if it takes more time one wishes…sometimes one doesn’t even realise he/she’s actually improving…trusting the process is something I learnt from Justin’s teachings
It’s a real joy to read this, as I’ve actually simplified the Rhythm…simplier but still effectively delivering the melody.Keep reading…
The original song is actually in 12/8, but I did approach it as 1-tri-plet 2-tri-plet 3-tri-plet 4-tri-plet, because it was easier for me to make the beat really explict (often with that soft strum Jason)…thus the 3/4 feeling. I’m pretty sure 123456 123456 would be more respectful of the original vibe, I’ll develop to that. Thanks for your comment Tomasz, your kind words brought much joy! I hope things are getting better with you.
I’m really happy you enjoyed it James…I find it so wonderful when you go on YT, check a few arrangements of the same song from different people and…they’re all different, sometimes very different. Thank you James
Hi Kim and thank you so much for your kind words of appreciation! I do play it on my Classical Guitar with the Capo on the 4th fret, which is btw the original key…and…yes I love the mellow sound of the nylon strings as well…I think I’ll try to record a more polished nylon strings version, without the hicups you hear in this recordings…it wasn’t my intention but…
…he even begged “please” Rogier I don’t promise, but I will try! Thank you Rogier
Thank you Michael @mfeeney0110 I ear similarities in the two songs as well, I guess the 12/8 might be a common point.
I’m not sure about this Lisa, but I want to record a “no hicups-flowing” one for Rogier so I’m keeping on playing it and trying to understand why at a certain point my fingers tense up so much interrupting the flow! Thank you for your kind comment Lisa, I really appreciate it!
I will Pam, I have already started another one I’m afraid you’ll have to bear again with me and my Chord Melody attempts
Thank you @Gunhild for letting me you enjoyed my playing…it makes me so very happy!
