Shaky Odds original song: So many pieces

Hi everyone. I’ve been following Justin’s lessons for quite some time now, with happy results, but thus far have omitted to share anything - so here goes (assuming the YouTube link works…).
Shaky Odds is mostly me, Rusty, but with the invaluable assistance of Tim Brink (drums) and Michel Vermeulen (mixing & mastering). While it is definitely great fun to study the guitar, nothing beats cobbling your own songs together! I’ve got 30 odd songs out now and even a couple of vids, of which this is one.
Many thanks to Justin for helping to make this possible!!

That was ever so cool, great playing, arrangement and tones, Ronald. And excellent mix and slide show.

Thanks for sharing

Wow thanks!!!

This is amazing Ron! The music, lyrics, vocals, and graphics are all top quality.:clap:

That’s extremely high praise… Thank you very very much!!

I wasn’t expecting that from your buildup. Well done! I’d enjoy seeing you play rather than just audio next time.

Thank you! Glad you liked it  I’ll consider doing something live - big step though…

Hi Ronald, I really enjoyed watching and listening to your original song/ video/slide presentation. You have developed some good skills as a songwriter and have a great arrangement with great tones in your guitar playing. I can tell that you spent a lot of time getting graphics to go with your lyrics and there was some interesting video editing. well done and I look forward to see and hearing your other projects.

That was really good Ronald and a very enjoyable listen. Really cool playing and catchy lyrics :smiling_face_with_sunglasses:

Thank you so much, Steve! This is really encouraging.
In terms of other projects… there’s a good few now on the regular digital channels. Usually a bit rockier than this one, but for another (mostly) quiet one, if I may be so bold as to continue self-promoting - Still seeking

That’s great to hear Eddie!! So nice to see all these comments!

Hi Ron,
And a big welcome to the Community
That’s a great production.
Catchy tune, well-performed, love the mixing and balance :smiling_face_with_sunglasses:
(My only criticism would be the slightly obvious AI-imagery, but that’s just personal taste)

I’m slightly puzzled as to why you have decided to join in the forum/community now?
You have obviously learned much, and are quite accomplished.
You have two full albums on Spotify with 653 monthly listeners.
Your ‘about’ info’ states:
“Shaky Odds started out as a project initiated by Netherlands based songwriter / musician Rusty, who was basically looking for a way to share some of his music with the world…”
This is a friendly, supportive community and we welcome guitarists of all abilities.
It is not however, primarily a music-sharing website.
You’ll find you get out what you put in, and the more you interact with others’ posts and music, the more people will engage with yours.
It’s not required, but many of us visit the Introduction site and give a bit of background on how we came to guitar and stumbled across this oasis…
I do look forward to hearing more from you and hope you stick around
(Please don’t take this as a negative comment. You have a lot to offer the Community, but we occasionally get passers-through simply trying to boost their viewing figures)
Cheers, Brian

Hi Brian! You bring a little smile to my face, you make me sound almost like a pro  I’m not - just a retired guy with a hobby and still very much a learner (intermediate grade 6, struggling with 9s and 13s). Hadn’t visited this Community before and hearing bands like Bleach Black Devotion and CounterPlot here, certainly didn’t feel I was going to shock anyone with my level of songwriting or playing…
Anyway, whether through Spotify or anywhere else, I never got anything like the positive comments there that I’ve been receiving on this forum - as I said before, hugely encouraging!
But point taken, Brian, I’ll take a step back and spend a bit more time getting my bearings. Thanks for your understanding.

Au contraire, mon ami!
I hope you take a step forward!
As you know, there’s a plethora of talent here already.
Last year @Alexeyd joined and his skills raised a couple of eyebrows, but he has become an active, appreciated member, taking part in our open mics and sharing with the rest of us :smiling_face_with_sunglasses:
Last month someone joined whose band has recorded a BBC session with John Peel and been quite active here.
I meant it when I said the more you put in, the more you’ll get out :folded_hands:
Welcome again

And welcome to the community! :slightly_smiling_face:

Those are inspiring examples, Brian…
I’ll definitely try to spend some useful (and pleasant) time here!

Hi Jenn. Credit where credit’s due!
