A few mistakes, particularly the change to the 5th string power chords, and I think I caught the open A string once… One I’ll keep working on but I wanted to post it anyway for feedback. The tone is from a Quad Cortex, I didn’t dial it in, just grabbed it from the cloud and made a few tweaks.
The Cult was way ahead of their time. You rocked it.
You kept the time very well maintaining the temp the whole way and the heavy and the light tough was represented too.
Very cool 1980s vib.
He was definitely using a flanger effect on that guitar, also a chorus maybe. Great tune.
One of my favourite songs of all time. Takes you somewhere. I really like the sound of your guitar and your playing is good. I don’t know how you managed to get that otherworldly tone.
I can’t take credit for the tone I just downloaded it from the cloud and altered the levels so it wasn’t clipping and sounded better through my sound system.
I just had a look though it’s an overdrive, chorus pedal, flanger, analog delay and some reverb after the cab and amp.
Banging tune. Those were the days.
Still sounds fresh today - and far superior to much that is produced these days.
What I like, and if memory serves Billy Duffy wrote something similar in the notes on a box set, the guitar part isn’t over played (using 1000 notes when half a dozen will do). Just great hooks/melodies that serve the song.
Great job.
The neighbours are now going to have to listen to the original - and I’ll tell them to blame you.
