An AI hallucination is an instance where an artificial intelligence system—most commonly a large language model—generates false, misleading, or completely fabricated information while presenting it as an absolute fact. This can include making up fake case citations, inventing historical details, or citing non-existent web links with total confidence.
Just wanted to clear the air that its a true term. My hats off to you and all others that help fact check and report. I truly think its misinformation that starts distress…two different realities. My comment was not meant to be abusive or offensive only informative just as the earlier discussion regarding energy consumed by the technology.
With that i bow out of the discussion in general as i totally misunderstood what this whole community hub was designed to discuss. I apologize to all who took offense and will stay over on the lesson side of the site.

On the question of AI hallucinations - I’m well aware of the recent application of this old term to the generation of incorrect information by LLMs. The reason I think it is a misnomer is that it implies some sort of subjective experience, and I am not yet at the point of accepting that AI systems actually have any experience at all. It was an unfortunate choice of term, because there is already a parallel scenario well known in the cognitive sciences, which is the generation of incorrect information by humans, apparently without conscious direction or awareness of its falsity, but in response to prompts from other parties or simply the situation around them. This is called confabulation. In other words, the perfect word already existed, but AI pundits chose to misapply another term which had heretofore been used quite differently.
Such is the aleatory evolution of language I suppose.
Seems to be a very controversial topic.

Whereas farmers think of something else entirely. 
Should the subject of AI be allowed? Yes. AI adjacent things like ez-drummer, loops in a DAW, backing tracks that we really don’t know if they are AI in whole or in part, and anything similar should be allowed as well.

A side note off topic, there is an interesting read from a former Think Tank\philosopher guy who wrote a book called " Shop Class as Soulcraft: An Inquiry into the Value of Work". I think you, Mark and maybe others, might quite like the read and is actually fitting on the whole A.I. subject and how it might impact our lives today and perhaps qualify some of my thoughts and earlier comments.
To i believe what is your original question: Art\Music is created from passion and therefore we weigh in heavily on things that impact this. Is cutting and pasting past recording sound bites together really music. Is digital art an offense to those that paint with brush and canvas.
So like religion and politics it will always fire people up. We can discuss and be civil but also must be willing to accept opposing points of view. I was floored to read where Thomas Dolby, long time master of creating studio sound nuances (who really decides a cricket chirp needs to be deeply embedded within a saturated layered song) would be all for A.I. created music, but that was his stance.
One thing for sure, its here, everything from my toothbrush to space shuttles is marketed with it. We are told we need therefore we will get it like or not. So do we hide our heads in the sand or bring out in the light and beat it to death and see where the chaff lays or just “shut up and play you guitar” - Thanks for that Frank R.I.P.

yeah he got fed up with the think tank life quite and opened a small engine motorcycle repair shop. I did the same, 30 years of writing edi code for 80% of fortune 500 and Federal Reserve, Microsoft Biz Talk copied us.
One day I said “I don’t really care anymore if the Kiwi leaves the docks in New Zealand” so i retired early. We were in the height of commodity throw away junk and was in the process of trying to restore an old 77 harley shovelhead. I could no longer get reliable parts so i married the two things and opened a machine shop behind my house, hence MadMetal. I became the neighborhood fix guy and grew into corporate items and finally installation art and historic repairs. Old school knowledge is something i hold dear and those generations that knew are now gone. Those stupid old trade guys knew linear geometry, trig, parametric equations and physics on the back of there hand. Now we need an app for that. Somewhere along the line that book popped up in my reading and honestly cant say why. It really has nothing to do with fixing bikes though…lol
I haven’t read the whole thing, I find it a bit boring. Unfortunately?, we’re not going to escape AI anyway, and soon we won’t even be able to tell what’s AI-generated and what isn’t (including in this thread 
), so… as Z said…

We know AI is a divided topic, and people have different feelings about it. Some embrace it, some don’t, and others are still figuring out where they stand. That’s okay. We’re aware of the evolving discourse around it.
Like many digital organizations, the JustinGuitar team uses AI at our discretion as one of many tools to help us do our jobs. We’re a small team supporting a large community, and our mission has always been to make guitar learning accessible to everyone.
That includes providing over 1,500 lessons without a paywall and maintaining our Beginner, Intermediate, and Advanced website courses free so that people have a fully free way to learn how to play guitar from scratch online.
What we do ask from Community members is openness when sharing creative musical work that has been significantly assisted or generated by AI. Our moderators will use their discretion when reviewing content to determine whether it aligns with the purpose and spirit of our Community.
We want our Community to remain a place where people can learn and support one another with kindness and respect. Thank you.
AI is allowed by our current Guidelines and I personally see no reason why it shouldn’t.
To respond to Mark’s concern my point of view is that AI is a tool and as such it’s neither good nor bad, it’s the way we humans use it to be good or bad.
We have a responsability toward the new generation to help them develop a critical thinking not to fall into AI hands but to keep AI in their own hands…keeping the discussion alive is not only good, it’s necessary.
I believe AI doesn’t have the power to divide people in itself, but people they can make conscious choices whether being divided or not: pointing out the good and the bad sides of AI doesn’t mean to be divided and it’s in my view both desiderable and beneficial that we keep doing it. Whether we look at it as an ally or an enemy we need to look straight into its eyes and know it from inside…but again it’s not in its nature to be our ally or enemy…it’s up to us to make it such; for sure it’s a great challenge for the human kind.
I totally agree with you on this.
Like a lot of things made to make life easier humans will find away to distroy each other with it and only a few will benefit from it.
This is not AI bashing it’s human nature and a fact.
It’s human nature then, what people are duscussing as a main subject, not AI. There are a lot of ways to destroy eachother, but I don’t wish to get further in that.
