Exercise 2 web page tab is different from what Justin plays in the vid here, should be just one slide and then all scratches.
I found this lesson while trying to work out how to play Right On For The Darkness by Curtis Mayfield - a good example?
Hey Colin
Long time since you posted but welcome to the community.
I just did this lesson and listened to “Right On For Darkness”. I agree with you Curtis fully sounds like he is using the slide action. I tried to work it what chords he was using. I tried a few things I am not sure if I am correct or not.
I think all he is doing is barring e, b and g strings. Then slides from fret 1 up to 2. Then is a D shape chord on frets 121 same 3 strings and just slides it up from fret 1 to 2, except the middle finger.
I hope that makes sense.
One that was close was a Bflat9 to B9 slide then a Eflat 9 to E9. This had everything end on the 7th fret. It used 4 strings rather than the 3 above used. This one is not correct. I sort of liked it better tone wise.
it doesnt really go with the soul of the song, I think the lower note has a better vib with what the message was of the time 1973.
Great song and long goove. ![]()
