It’s so nice to hear that you like the idea! ![]()
But I do still need a bit of time to find the right song and I would rather like to sing it myself, even if my italian will be flawed ![]()
I’m like that too…sometimes I think that the only reason why I want to learn proper strumming is because what I really want to do is singing, to accompany my voice. So it’s totally understandable…just let me know the song when you’ve chosen it…No pressure…let’s take the time we need…Andrea you’re in too at this point! @Helen0609 ![]()
Hi Silvia ,
I wish you and your husband all the best, nothing can impact as hard as the health of a partner … now I was always the sick one, but I always tried to keep a close eye on how she was doing, and even I made mistakes in that while I was so aware of it …
May I join the Celentano-singing-club sometime in the future, too?
I love the Italian language and singing in Italian, though it is very, very rusty now… As a teen, I had a few Italian folk and Gianna Nannini songs under my belt, but all are forgotten except “Bello e impossibile”. ![]()
As for your update: Silvia, it’s great to see you’re so dedicated on track with your classical journey. I really need to catch up Sexy Sadie soon. Fingers crossed for you and your husband. Hopefully he improves soon. All the best for the two of you!! ![]()
Thanks Rogier
Forza e coraggio ![]()

Looking forward to the upcoming Italian collabs. I’m sure it will be a treat ![]()
Sending many good thoughts to your husband and you ![]()
I’m currently working on “Il ragazzo della via Gluck”(italiano) and “Don’t play that song for me” Celentano version inglese (original by Ben E. King), I picked them for the strumming course as they are fun and helpful for the techniques.
Uuuuuuu… I’ll do my best! I’m fighting with life struggles atm
, so I can’t ensure to do it in time. I’ll write you a PM!
Sorry to read your husband isn’t well. Sending lots of good vibes to Italy
!
Silvia, the songs you recorded in May that were played at the party sounded good and relaxed. You used a lot of different types of finger strums and finger picking. I still get nervous recording myself so I am in admiration of.your playing in public.
I hope your husbands condition improves ![]()
Thank you Steve for giving it a listen and commenting…your words are reminding me how much I’m growing with my guitar.
There’s only one way here I guess: keep doing it with the attitude of sharing the joy of music…so… just keep going!
A quick update: it took me 2 days to work out where in the bar the notes for “wherever you are” should go…today’s homework is keeping on with the phrase
“I believe that my heart does ![]()
…drop beats!”

In such circumstances self-irony feels like the best option ![]()
Riddle me this…which Chord Melody am I arranging? ![]()
Silvia

Brian
Hmm… I see icebergs and sinking ships
![]()

Maybe a quick phone call with Celine will sort it. ![]()

Whitney is my fave btw
But I chose this tune because it’s probably easier than what it seems.
July Update
the Wolf didn’t eat me! That’s because I didn’t linger there to take high quality pictures
Ok…back to guitar talks.
Since we came home, on the 15th I had really no feeling to get back to structured learning; I made many pictures up there in the mountains with a song video project developing in my mind, but then just one of those pictures hit like a powerful fist in my belly and my project changed. When I was home I started looking for an old much whorshipped musicsheet of mine, which I couldn’t find, and in the meanwhile a sheet was in my hand containing Lyrics and Chords of My Heart Will Go On: no time to think I was already humming the melody while fingerpicking my Air-Guitar…isn’t it so cool about an Air-Guitar that you can grab it and play it whenever you need it? No need to tune it either ![]()
First thought came to my mind was: “ah, this works exactly like Rain Rain go away! Bet it shouldn’t be that difficult to get a little chord melody!”
Second thought…I can’t repeat it but it was swearing, not sure whether at Sexy Sadie for being to sexy for me, or at myself for being too silly for her.
Anyway, I thought I would have a try, I transposed the chords to the key of C and used a capo to maintain the original key. The melody came easily and I didn’t feel I had to check it on the Internet, as I was happy with my notes. The first few bars of the chord melody also came easy and I was so happy! Then, as I already told, I got stuck at that wherever you are and that required quite a lot of work to sort it out with a flick-off and a double slide…not sure yet but I like the way it sounds! The intro also required much work, I know I’m not hitting all the notes in the original motif but I find it well reminds it. What else to say? Too much probably, I’ve got too many things going around in my mind at the moment…and I need a practice routine for August! I think it’ll be semi structured practice…and it’ll be mostly on my Acoustic Guitar because I’m just loving it so much these days ![]()
So here’s the video I shared on the AVOYP section and a picture of my new beauty Carmelina!
Daddy and I at the train station - 87 years old - he is my ROCK ![]()
