I tried this and it seems to make no difference. I still need to switch on the vpn to get the app to load. Also, in Norton, I need to pick a country (uk in my case) and not the ‘fastest’ setting.
It was the same for me…
So there’s a new version today. Has the Sky issue been fixed in this version?
Have been away for a week, and no problem loading app elsewhere on non Sky internet.
Just tried at home with VPN on and app loads fine.
Switched off VPN and back to not loading.
So will leave VPN on and all good again!

In Word - no. It works with vpn set. I have found that vpn prevents me printing on my wifi printer unless i toggle vpn off. I guess i will have to live with this inconvenience ( i don’t print and play guitar at the same time).
I recently installed canon print onto my iPad from the App Store (as I have a canon printer). Now printing works via this app (with and without vpn). Normal iOS print is still only working with vpn off. So with vpn on, I can now use JG songs app and print. I don’t understand what’s going on but the workaround seems to work.
As a final (hopefully) fallow up, we had a brilliant engineer attend as we had another issue with our sky broadband. At the end of his visit I asked if he had come across the issue with the app and sky. He rang his tech team who had never heard about this. To cut to the chase, there is no issue with the old black hub (version 4.6 I think he said) but the current white (version 6) has MAPT set and this is the only difference. So, he got their tech support to disable MAPT on my router and hey presto the app works. So if you have the white hub or get upgraded to one, then get them to disable the MAPT. In time as this is rolled out with other suppliers Musopia may need to modify their app. The app now works without messing about with VPNs etc.
Thank you very much for asking this question to the engineer and for sharing, this is incredibly helpful information!
We have passed this info onto our tech team and in our support channels, we’ll make sure to inform customers that this needs to be turned off to allow the app to load
For some background:
It’s basically to deal with the fact there’s an increasing shortage of IPv4 addresses.
@MusopiaApps I’m not sure if it’s useful or not, but any Sky Broadband customer with this issue will have native IPv6 capability, and that will not be subject to any form of NAT or address mapping.
And, in the long term, IPv6 will be required, if it’s not already supported.
Cheers,
Keith
