Snorkelling šŸ¤æ I took pictures! Aug30th update

 ā€¦
I have seen so many films with gangsters in the past that I wouldnā€™t know which ones (especially and maybe only in American films ???), and there were some very good ones and yes some very bad ones, but a number of them in Sicily (a great loss that I have never been there), also a series about investigating judges Falcone and Borsellino made a big impression on meā€¦also the way of playing and the landscapes and villages surroundingsā€¦

Now I go swimmi driving laps in front of the fan

Where did you snorkell Adrian? I live in Liguria in the North of Italy and I go in the summer here in the Ligurian Sea. I used to go with my husband but not this year as since January already heā€™s having a bad time with broken ribs and the doctor said he canā€™t absolutely swim. In the past heā€™s been more than once snorkelling in the barrier reef in the Red Sea and thatā€™s what I call proper snorkelling! I so wish to go there as well! If here the snorkelling is very nice indeed there must be Wonderland!!! The picturesā€¦I screenshoot from the Internet .

Swimming underwater always feels like being in a different world to me. Using a snorkel means you can immerse yourself in it as long as you like :grinning: Add sea-life to that and you have the full ā€˜alienā€™ experience!
As for the males being more spectacular, well I wonā€™t go into that :peacock:
I brought the ukulele as weā€™re limited for space, and hadnā€™t learnt the song properly as it was day one, but had a good time.
Mainly Germans in the audience but more scratching heads than dancing
Regarding the song and the signpost-
This could be heaven or this could be hellā€¦

Iā€™ve done scuba in the past and completely echo this comment about it being like floating above another planet.

One thing that is different with scuba is that you lose the colour very quickly with depth so if you just want brightly coloured fishes then stick with snorkelling. You only need to get about 6 feet under the surface and thereā€™s no longer any shades of red

Did you sing a German song then? :grinning: maybe it was a dialect thing, as I am sure lyrics made perfect sense

We went to Hawaii this year so we snorkelled near Kauai and Oahu. Absolutely amazing, we even managed to see spinner dolphins swimming just like 2m below us! Trip organisers did say that it never happens and we were very lucky, although I did prefer see turtles and colourful fish :grinning:

Absolutely! I go early in the morning with no breakfast at all because I know hunger and thirst will be the only valid arguments to make me get out of the water! @mattswain

Nowā€¦I was hoping someone would give a proper scientific explanation :joy:

Obviously :joy:

The simple oneā€¦
Because the females are in charge :sunglasses:, they have to choose and that is why more and more beautiful colors are created and sometimes with bizarre strange looking males (Some birds can hardly fly anymore due to the type of feathers etc etc) ā€¦

Females rule, and more and more of our kind are realizing how things work in our world and
seize power :sunglasses:

Greetings

Hey Silvia, snorkelling before breakfast must be a good start into the day! Would love this too !
When we were visiting Liguria (the western side) we had lots of jellyfishes, ouch!

Itā€™s from the Godfather. ā€œLuca Brasi sleeps with the fishesā€. He was a Mafia hitman and who was killed by a rival gang and his body disposed of in the sea. The rivals sent 2 fish wrapped in his bulletproof vest as a message.

Hereā€™s some translation from the News a couple of days ago

Warm, the Ligurian Sea has exceeded the ā€œtropicalā€ threshold of 30 degrees: hereā€™s what it means

And at the end of the articleā€¦

such a warm sea has at least two meteorological implications. The first is the progressive weakening of the sea breezes which guarantee some relief from the heat, due to the reduction of the thermal differential between the sea and the land. The second, even more serious, is the availability of an enormous amount of energy in the Mediterranean Sea, ready to unleash devastating storms in the presence of certain configurations typical of the autumn season.

And today I read of a waterspout and much damage in the western coast @Helen0609

Iā€™m so scared for the autumn. In October 2016 we had a whirlwind here, the roof of my house got damaged and the rain came in through the kitchen. I was horrified, when it was over I got to the balcony and looked up at our school and saw the roof was completely uprooted, the violence was such, thanks god the school was closed for weather alert.

Inspired by this thread and a visit to my favourite Brittany beach this morning, I rummaged around in the garage and dragged these out. A little clean and tidy was needed, as they were last used pre Covid. All being well I may get a dip Sunday morning ! :diving_mask:

Itā€™s crazy how much is going on in Italy these days. Quite a dangerous place to be :hushed:: landslides, storms, earthquakes, volcanic eruptions, bears attacking people, tourists overrunning certain areasā€¦
No, jokes aside, I hope you stay safe from those storms :pray:t3:!

Oh wow wow wow!!! What a great adventure! Iā€™m so happy I went snorkelling even if I was very sleepy this morning because we did late last night as there was live-music in a bar nearby.

Soā€¦ first thing I saw as I put my head down in the water: 3 jellyfishes :astonished::flushed::scream: oh nooo! I thought ā€œNo snorkelling today :sob:ā€ but then I thought ā€œwait a minute, Iā€™m equipped with eyes to watch outā€¦ehā€ā€¦so I did all my snorkelling! The summer will be over soon, so I took the risk knowing that if, by accindent, I hurted one of those elegant creatures of the sea it would burn like hell! A few close encounters but Iā€™m safe

I TOOK THE PICTURES FROM OUTSIDE THE WATER with my smartphone and zoomed!

In the collage I also put my face after having been gifted with so many wonders :gift_heart::cupid::sparkling_heart:

Andā€¦the icing on the cakeā€¦

Wow. Good that the jellyfishes didnā€™t catch you!! Super nice pictures :slightly_smiling_face:

The icing on the cake will a be a fish-inspired guitar video?

Great pics Silvia. I did dip my toes in a couple of weeks back and the Easy Breath Snorkel worked great. Unfortunately all I got to see was sand, sand clouds and rock, plus a bit of sea weed ! Here
