So here I am, again ... hello from Frans in Netherlands

Hello Guitar people,

My name is Frans, age 56 and living in the Netherlands.
Have been playing guitar from the mid 90’s and been following Justin from that time.Inspired by Pink Floyd (David Gilmour my hero), Jimi Hendrix, Red hot Chili Peppers, Jeff Healey, Beatles and many others. Following Chris Buck nowadays.
I own three guitars; Acoustic Crafter, an electric Epiphone Les Paul and a selfbuilt replica of the famous Black Strat from David Gilmour/Pink Floyd.
All of this suggests that I am an experienced player but that is not the case. I could have been but with some regret I have to admit that I still have a lot to learn.

Problem is that there where many years that i did not practice at all. When I played the guitar it was for a few weeks, playing the same songs again and putting the guitar away for the rest of the year. Time flies and now I am 56 and realize that something has to change !
And it will !

I now know that I need some kind of structure and learn the basics again so I decided to start from scratch. There is no better place to do this than here with Justin Guitar.
Started 3 weeks ago and I am now at beginner level Grade 2 module 13.
Never been so motivated as now. Very eager to learn the theory of music, new songs and the very important basics of guitar playing. I am all over Youtube and gratefull to explore the guitarlessons and other (beginner) students and guitar content. This was different back in the days I started playing.

Thanks for accepting me in the Justin community and I hope that we can inspire and learn from each other.
Also thanking Justin and his team for all the hard work and offering me the joy of learning the guitar…again.

Greetings,
Frans

Welcome to the forum Frans. We’re all guilty of not practicing as much as we should. Good to hear you got the guitar bug back.

Hi,
Yes, 3 years ago on March 1 I could put my left fingers in the C chord with my right hand in an occupational therapy setting. then I knew I would be cured of more ailments…since then played every day more then 10 minutes (minus 14) but then i found Justin that summer :sunglasses:…toen was het hek van de dam (that was the gate of the dam?)

Yes living in the Netherlands,
I have seen the entire course from start to finish including the theory course ( not the best way for the most people)…much too fast of course but I wanted to know what was there, now I watch a lesson very sporadically but mainly watch song lessons I now on a daily basis … I have been working on the guitar for hours a day since the summer 3 years ago…

because due to the speed of viewing I have forgotten a lot of theory and of course many techniques have not yet been mastered at all…but the last 3(?) months I am making good progress

Oke, good for you Roger. Always been my problem skipping the basics a little bit. Starting to learn songs fast was more interesting than learning basics and theory. Now I try to combine the two and getting better at both of them. See you around here !
