Just think about having a go at learning to play this beast! The mind boggles
What he heck did I just see?
Truely stunning vid. I wonder how this one is tuned?
The real challenge is making music with only one string…
Basically it’s a 6 string Bass and an 8 string guitar joined together. Not sure about the tuning as yet
It’s not as difficult as you might think!
Doesn’t Justin teach you that in Grade 1 Module 2
My first reaction is . . . Why?
Because they can - what else?
There have been guitars with 18 strings around for years, the Gibson double neck traditionally had a 12 string on top and 6 string on the bottom; but there have since been other variations.
Looks like maybe, just maybe, it weighs more that my Les Paul…
Cool post!
Tod
That was a decent bit of playing but boy is that neck wide.
I think I’d just stick with a 12 string.
Nice! Sounds sweet
I wonder how the left hand wrist would go with that, especially playing the bass strings a lot be cool to try one though
Learn the notes on the fretboard. . .
It’s not really that difficult, you just split it up and treat it as two different instruments, 6 string bass and 8 string guitar, in this case there is some overlap between the bass’s thinner strings and the 8 string’s lower strings, but in this case the open strings don’t have the same tuning.
8 string guitar is F# – B – E – A – D – G – B – E
6 string bass is B - E - A - D - G - C
Cool share, Darrell! They’re able to wrangle that beast and make it sing! Amazing playing! And what a guitar!
It’s funny as I was only just talking about these types of guitars with Andrea the other day and I shared the below, being a fairly hilarious collab from a couple of YouTube guitar content creators (both very good guitarists in their own right) taking the p*** a bit out of the guitars (and themselves). I think this might be when things get taken just a little too far though…
Mmm… at this point, why not just play a harp
I would go for a harp
Oh no! That is taken a little bit too far
That hurt seeing them be covered in sand!
But also answers my thought about playing the bass strings, so mostly from over the top of the neck - be much more comfortable
Nice! Harps are sweet! It’d be fun to try that too!
that’s hilarious! and OMG it’s a real thing!!
It even comes with a little brother… the Li’l Tooter!
