This month I’m working on a few songs. My latest performance was Blink 182’s One More Time. Also working on Bed Of Roses from Bon Jovi with triplets. I’ll get that one recorded soon and hope to play these at the open mic 4/25.
Didn’t post this one to you tube so my coworkers didn’t see I took a break to play music while I was supposed to be working. This was filmed at the visitor clubhouse at the stadium and I um borrowed the $4000 Taylor guitar for 5 minutes because she told me to play her. TikTok - Make Your Day
Trying out the new pick that fits like a ring.
To follow up, did my open mic again last night. It was not perfect because my arthritis got the best of me and by the end of song three I had a death grip on the pick to not lose it and embarrass myself. The positive is an old woman came up to me and said you had the most interesting and amazing set of anyone here and please come back. Also the group of younger crowd were all talking in the back during first few performances and immediately stopped to listen once I started playing. Worth more than the dollar in a tip jar.
Make sure you don’t get in trouble, Blink 182 is hardly “punk” to be so rebellious
When I’m passed my regular "ah yes the Toto Wolff of the Justin Guitar Community,
It often strikes me you have an odd way to use your strumming hand.
It might affect the tightness of your strumming.
Check out some of the specfic stings this chap is showing;:
See hown “together” is hand isn aiming at accuracy?
Thanks Lieven. I have arthritis in my hand so I can’t hold a pick too long. They had some taped on the wall there, but thought I better leave them alone. I bought a box of those picks you wear on your thumb like a ring but still feels odd other than all downstrums. You probably noticed the buzz when I play b minor so definitely need to work on the b minor to sound smoother.
Ok that’s a tough challenge! Keep pushing thiough bro.
You are by result a bit inconsistent in the attack angle and strength.
about the picks, have you tried attaching them to other fingers than your thumb?
Don’t worry about that Bm too much; playing them in the flow of a song and knowing/hearing when it needs work is already more than half of the work. Keep practicing it in songs while minding the timing and it will turn out just fine!
Yes, I did try my first finger. Maybe the set I bought was too thick or I need to relax my strumming some. It is working well as I practice bed of roses with triplet downstrums just not the upstrums as of yet. It’s only been a week so I’ll give it time.
Good work Jeff. I’m succumbing to arthritis in my hands and it’s not fun. I’m inspired by Keith Richard he must be a sufferer just look at his hands! Motivation if ever it was needed for all of us.
Thanks John for always listening and commenting on my music. Arthritis sucks but it’s not the end, just a bigger obstacle to overcome. I’ll be likely doing these two songs for the Justin guitar open mic coming up. Getting better by the day. Can’t wait.
Thanks for listening Gordon. Here is the you tube version of one more song I performed on Friday night. My arthritis was at its worst so less than perfect but I still felt good on stage.
I appreciate what you said. Performing on stage is really a blast once you get past that first time, even if mishaps and mistakes happen you keep going and the crowd is usually forgiving. It’s like standing at the edge of a cold swimming pool. Once you get used to the water it’s all good. Hope things are going well with you.
