After a relatively cold beginning of April, we now have here all the symptoms of so long-awaited spring; delicate, fresh green leaves everywhere and a blackbird singing its morning and evening song… Mine is not nearly as beautiful, but reflects my feelings quite well nonetheless… I hope you’ll like it:
I’m also adding an example of my daily practice routine: a BT based on a fairly common chord progression: Imaj7-vi7-ii7 (or 11) - V7 (in this case it’s in the key of F) and an improvised solo line:
Tomasz you’ve evoked the sounds, colours and smells of Spring. It has a fresh crispnesss and I can see bright, new green leaves fluttering in the sunshine. We are in Autumn here.
I love your Spring song… it evokes not only clear, lovely mental imagery but also I am having flashes of lyrics come into my head while I listen!!!
Things like:
“Bright sunny morning! O Spring is coming! This time of year is the best!”
“Winter be fading, New leaves are waking, It’s when we know our Earth is Blessed!”
Or
“Bluebird is singing, his mate is winging, winging her way to their nest. Eggs they are cracking, fledglings are hatching, They warm themselves on her breast!”
Thank you once again for a pleasant song to hear in the morning on a lovely Spring day in my town!
Tod - what you wrote is just priceless; even though you talk about fitting lyrics for the song, it sounds like music to my ears… It allows me to believe that what I do makes sense. My deepest thanks.
Tomasz - you are one of the very few Community members who post originals that really connect with me every time!!! I don’t know what you’ve done in life to ‘make your living’ but in my mind it must have had to do with the making of beautiful music… instead of “Coda”, your username should be “Accarezzevole” or “Allegrezza” because of the caring, joyful contributions you present to us!
Thanks for sharing another gem…
Tod
PS If you wish, I would be happy to share some lyrical thoughts for your Spring song… you can DM the chord progression to me & I’ll try to add something ‘musical’ to this enchanting song!
Very tasteful playing.
The tones definitely capture the mood you’re after.
I can imagine it as the soundtrack to a collection of photos of nature in all her glory.
The improvised solo line just flows - very nice jam.
@Digger72@pkboo3 : Dear Stephen and Pamela - thank you so much! It means a lot to me when in this respectable community of (no doubt) great guitarists there are folks who appreciate my music; this gives me encouragement and motivation so desired in my daily playing.
Tod: The chord progression goes basically like this:
(E - B/D# - f#m/C# - B) x2
E - B/D# - f#m7/C# - f#m11 - B7sus4
I begin the sequence barring the 4th fret where the first two chords are played, then go to the 2nd fret to finish the line in which consecutive chords contain the descending E-D#-C#-B notes played on the Vth string; hence the ‘slash’ chords indicated. In some places I might have played some extra extensions, but the main progression is as listed above.
I’ve never intended this song to contain a vocal line (none of my compositions does), but I’d feel really honoured if you succeeded in adding some lyrics.
Hey Tomasz,
Having a really busy week at work and Spring yard work this next weekend but will try to get to this next week! Thanks for sending… I’m excited to see if I can come up with something that “fits” your vibe!
Tod
PS - First time I have ever attempted working lyrics to someone else’s song…
