SSS Strat Partscaster build diary

It is very light yes. Apparently a good soundwood though and sustainable, since it grows so fast. How cool would that be - a guitar made from a tree you grew yourself!

You could get a few Strats out of 7 Paulownia, especially as its fast growing tree. Don’t know how many strats you would get from 1 Paulownia, but I’m working on a project where we are about to plant 30 million Paulownia - that’s really a lot of strat bodies!!!

Allegedly and why I bought 20 of them, success rate was acceptable but their growth has not been the stratospheric meterage that was expected. But they are surrounded by 200 hybrid poplars !! Most of those are now completing with my 2 ancient and giant Oaks and planted at the same time as the Paulownias. So I have options.

The very rapid growth of Paulownia is hype, IMO. Anyway, you can make nice bodies out of poplar! My Squier tele is poplar it it’s a really nice sounding guitar.

That’s good, in total there is about 270 Black Cottonwood/Japanese Poplar Hybrids in total. And I’ll likely plant another 50+ cutting late winter early spring !!

Would love to hear more about that. I just read an article about plantations here in Romania where they reckon they can’t find buyers? I’m making another ST style with it and the grain is weird on this one. Could be glue spill. We shall see.

Very cool mate.

Lots of work gone into that one. Way more than me chucking together some bits onto and old guitar. I want to take on a complete build but don’t really have the workshop or tools. I would love to learn to do all the set up stuff properly with fret levelling etc.

Great looking guitar mate.
