Steve Hackett: Shadow of the Heirophant

Instrumental cover. The actual tune has a vocal section, but I don’t have a vocalist
Also wish I could play the drums/have some real drums, but I’ll have to make do with the Roland drum pad. The drumming escalation is an important part of the way they construct the performance on stage, but is way beyond my skills.

The closing section just keeps going round and round a chord progression, gradually increasing in intensity. My production skills aren’t up to doing that properly, and I ended up leaving a bit of clipping in to achieve the dynamic range I wanted.

Admirable musicianship, a truly impressive performance. Well balanced instrumentation, great recording technique. I couldn’t add much more… :+1:

Another awesome production, Phil. You should have asked your cult leader to do the vocals for you. Absolutely fantastic playing my friend.

Magic our Maurice.

Where be the chords ?

Writing this comment live while listening. Just at the bells interlude, at about 2:20 mark. Speechless :open_mouth:! And the guitar harmonies, great stuff! About 6 minutes in, you even have the organ pedals! I am putting this on repeat right now. Thank you very much for sharing this masterpiece!

Zoikes!
I’d pay money to see you play. Great video bonus.

You have just knocked another out of the park Phil.
I’m sure you have many more 70s infused prog moments in the pipeline.
Bring 'em on.

Is this what is called a virtuoso performance? So far above my pay grade I don’t know what to say! Brilliant stuff, Phil.

@mathsjunky @AlyKat @Silvia80 @Willsie Thank you so much everyone - I know proggy stuff isn’t everyone’s cup of tea so thanks for listening
