String tree issue

I have problem with the string tree on my guitar. Whenever I bend the E string I can hear it scraping and tinkling on the tree. This isn’t amplified but I can hear it and it’s really annoying. The guitar is a Fender American Ultra Strat and the string tree is the original as factory fitted. It looks like the material is brushed stainless steel or something like that. I’ve tried putting lubricant on the string where it comes into contact bur to no avail. Does anybody else have this problem? Even better - have you fixed it, and how?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

My S-type Dean Zelinsky has a plastic tree. Never had any issues with it. I’d think that isn’t just annoying, but increases the chance of the string breaking.

They make a graphite tree that may help, search Amazon.

Or Tusq:

Also available from Sweetwater, Musician’s Friend, etc.

If it’s still under warranty just take it to a fender service center

Don’t know if this might help:
Fender Stratocaster - Tutorial: how to get rid of that string tree noise when bending

Many thanks for all the tips. I’m going to try Fender’s solution first. If that gets me nowhere I’ll try the Tusq although I’d prefer to retain the all chrome look of my hardware if I can

Thanks Judi. The Fender video seems to have fixed it :ok_hand: If it just proves to be temporary I’ll look into a graphite or rolling tree

Thanks all
