Strumming pattern issues when there are two chords in a bar

I’m really struggling with getting the strumming patten right when there are two chords in the same bar. Is there a way of seeing the strumming patten and the chords at the same time when practicing a song??

Are you using the app or songs on the website to practice . which song it?

This doesn’t answer your question directly but in my opinion you should learn the pattern and then apply it to the song, so you shouldn’t need it on screen at the same time as the song.

You’ll find the chord changes much easier if you’re not thinking about the strumming pattern as well.

I’d sit and practice the strumming pattern with muted strings and do that until you no longer need it on screen, your arm should be able to play it with little to no thought involved. Trying to learn a song and a strumming pattern at the same time is too much (it certainly was for me)

Yeah I’ve got the strumming patten down but as I said I’m struggling with how to play it over 2 chords in one bar

On the app,

Hello @Banjo88

This question appears so often we have a super-combined topic discussing the issue and solutions here: Help - 2 chords in a bar & strumming Old Faithful alone or with the Songs App (moderator combined topic)

The short answer is to move to something simply like four down strums only in a bar with two chords.

Old faithfull goes: down down up up down, right?
Your problem lies with timing. If you have a 4/4 rythm, you can do, as @Richard_close2u says, start with 2 downstrums for, let’s say an A chord and 2 downstrums for a G chord. The change happens between downstrum 2 & 3 on the up strum.
When applying old faithfull, you could do A for 2 downstrums change chords after downstrum 2 and continue on the next chord for the remainder of the bar. It’s a fast change, so practice a lot, but start very slowly.
You end on an upstrum after 4.
I hope this is somewhat clear…
