Last year I posted a strummed version of Suicide is Painless by Johnny Mandel, and said I hoped to learn it fingerstyle. Here are both versions for your enjoyment (I hope!).
I see that I watched my hands too much, probably because the camera was on, and muffed a couple of notes, but not bad for the first take. The gusting wind, revving car motors and sporadic house finch calls are carefully added special effects.
Nice job! I thought both were really good, but I have a slight preference for the fingerstyle version. Oh yeah, nice special effects too!!
That’s coming along nicely, Michael. I’m not quite sure how to describe it, but it’s akin to a chord-melody arrangement you’ve created, isn’t it? A mixture of picking, plucking and melody lines. Well done.
And a great tune, evocative of a great TV series.

I really like fingerstyle version. To me… there is some kind of “touch” or moment… personality… the feel for the place. 
Dont get me wrong, both versions are great. I am just more fingerstyle.

I definitely enjoyed both versions. The strummed one was a tad smoother playing wise, but I liked the fingerstyle version more from musical aspects. It’s more touching to me and suits the vibe of the song more. All in all, well done! And it feels great to reach a goal you set yourself, ain’t it? 
I enjoyed both, Michael. I also think the finger-style works better than the strummed without a vocal to add a melodic element. I hope you’ll keep working on it now it is under the fingers to grow even more confidence and fluency
