I haven’t posted an AVOYP for a while so here we go!
This is a great John Prine song, simple but very catchy and once it gets into your head difficult to get it out :grinning_face:
I’ve just used some simple picking which I think suits the song

That’s a pretty song, Richard. You did a very nice job of it. A sad story behind the original though. (I went and listened to the John Prine Official Video). But to you, I say well done!

I only watched the official video after the pointer! I realised it is bitter sweet tinged with melancholy, but hadn’t known of the reason why John Prine wrote it. I do seem to be attracted to songs with rather darker undertones!

I don’t knowingly use a particular picking pattern for this. I must have a few patterns in my head as I do learn the patterns for some songs but with this I did it more by feel and what sounded good to me. I like to try and minimise movements with my fretting hand sometimes and in this case thought the F played on strings 2.3.4. sliding down to a G sounded nice.
So have a go!
