Ha-ha
Nice guitar and I agree ā€˜don’t buy strings’ and don’t watch YouTube, don’t look on Reverb or eBay to pass a few minutes or slow down when passing a guitar store lol
but hey we all love NGD and it keeps us inspired

Good decision Craig!!!

I love your (I presume) typo above…
Often perusing turns into pursuing!!! :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

That is a beautiful new axe!!!

Lovely shade of blue… I have a serious weakness for blue guitars!

Enjoy your new strings!!!

Tod

P.S. I think Rebecca got it right…

LOL, yes a typo, damn autocorrect. But I guess it might have known something I didn’t. :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

That sounds like a great goal! Buying a lottery ticket this afternoon.

I love the ā€˜it was x amount off’

Just the thing to tell a wife or partner - rather than the actual cost

Nice guitar btw

Craig,

Since we haven’t seen a whole bunch of NGD posts from you…

…guessing that the Lottery ticket didn’t pay off!!!

I saw this thread pop up in ā€œLatest Topicsā€ & read through again… brought back a memory from many years ago…

I owned one cheap guitar at the time & needed new strings. There was a small, family-owned music store within walking distance from my kids elementary school. I walked in one day only to realized that they mainly were a drum store… very few guitar related items. BUT, they did have a pretty large display of strings for various stringed instruments & above them was a sign that said:

FREE STRINGS FOR A YEAR WITH PURCHASE OF A STRINGED INSTRUMENT

I thought, ā€œHmmmmm… well maybe a quick look at the guitars, mandolins & bassesā€ of which they only had a few on display…

They had a very pretty Ibanez acoustic-electric with a cutaway that sounded good to me but it had a large ding on the front which didn’t appeal to me. So I walked away. Told my wife about it that night & so a couple of weeks later she took me into the store to browse - They’d gotten another one in… a perfect one… I was waffling about spending the $400 (quite a lot of money to us then) when the owner said he’s sell it for the same price as the damaged one… $325. My wife insisted on $300 or no sale & the guy gave in… AND honored the free strings deal also… I had a little punch card to get strings once a month for 12 months!
I later found out why the company came up with that little punch card - I would go in to get my FREE strings & spend $$$ - another guitar about a year later, a drum kit for my son, a violin for my daughter… I got free strings but they got a customer for life! Unfortunately, the owner retired & his kids decided to sell the business to someone who ended up bankrupt after a couple of years… such a shame to see a really good store that fostered goodwill in the neighborhood go under…

Great story. I try to patronize the small Mom & Pop stores but they are slowly disappearing.
