Surprise NGD

I haven’t really been seriously looking for a new guitar. But I had decided a few months back that when I did get a new electric guitar it was going to be blue, that may be silly, but I really wanted a blue guitar and had been casually looking at PRS and the blue Fender H.E.R. model.

Went to the local Guitar Center to buy new strings for my Squire and decided to pursue the guitars. They had 2 blue Fender Performer Stratocasters on clearance. One was $200 off the other was $400 off (29% off retail).

I came back the next morning and played it along with a couple other Fender Player series and a PRS and loved the way it played and felt in my hands. Still wasn’t planning on buying but went home and couldn’t stop thinking about it. Ended up going back at closing time and buying it.

The moral of the story is that buying strings is dangerous.

Congrats Craig  That’s one good looking blue guitar. I hope you got the model with the 400$ discount?

I think the GAS risk increased with the “casually looking at blue guitars part” already :blue_heart:

More so when they are attached to a guitar already!

Congrats!

I did. It had just one very small ding on it so that’s out of the way and I’m free to add my own.

I hope the store at least threw in a set of strings at no charge!

Happy NGD Craig! It turns out that going anywhere a guitar store is dangerous. :smirk:

Those naughty strings. See what they did there? Now you need to buy more strings!

I think I will only be buying strings on Amazon from now on. Lesson learned.

What color is Fender calling that. I feel like its not the normal blue. Its really nice.

Satin Lake Placid Blue

I think it’s the satin finish that makes it look different.

Mark Knophler bought a red strat because that’s what Hank Marvin, of the Shadows, played.

Happy NGD, Craig!

It’s a lovely looking guitar, I like that blue, too.

Going anywhere near guitar stores is a dangerous thing to do… Even if we do it with best intentions, it often turns to a NGD.

I’m not a spontaneous type of person. I’ve never gone into the guitar store and bought anything but what I went there for.

Craig, happy NG!!! At least you accomplished your original mission of purchasing new guitar strings. It is a bonus that they were attached to a beautiful blue Fender Strat.

I’m not normally spontaneous either. I spend months doing research. But it was blue and deeply discounted. If it hadn’t been on clearance I wouldn’t have gotten it and probably bought a new guitar in November or December. But the price was what got me to pull the trigger.
