I’m absolutely buzzing and had to share this with people who’d get it. This Christmas, I’m surprising two of my sons (ages 9 and 16) with tickets to see AC/DC next September 2026 at Notre Dame Stadium.
We’ve got lower-level seats for the three of us, and I’m so pumped. I’ve never seen AC/DC live myself, so it’ll be a first — and probably a last — for all of us. The best part is that my 9-year-old is obsessed with AC/DC. They’re his favorite band, and it’s going to be his first concert ever. Not a bad way to start, right?
Both of my boys are really into rock and metal, so I know they are going to lose their minds when they open this. I honestly can’t wait to see their reactions.
Just had to share the excitement here — I know this crowd can appreciate a milestone music moment like this.
You’ll all remember this show for the rest of your lives. Took my two to AC/DC when they were about the same age - they were blown away. I’ve seen them three times since - they still sound amazing. Best show available, in my opinion. Some ear protection is advisable! Enjoy.
When I was 16, I saw AC/DC in Southampton (UK) and it was Bon Scott’s last concert. He was found dead the next night in a car in London. Bon Scott had a bottle of whiskey in his hand almost the whole time, but he sure could sing.
It was a fantastic concert. I had seen Motorhead a few weeks earlier at the same venue and they broke in the indoor concert sound (volume) record for the loudest indoor concert. So Ac/Dc decided to break the record that night. I couldn’t hear much after either of those concerts.
Also it was avenue where, once the lights went down and the band came on stage, all the seats got flattened and everyone piled to the front. Wouldn’t be allowed now (health and safety). Got really close to Motorhead and AC/DC.
You and the boys are going to have a blast at that concert. I’m really jealous.
I’m sure they will love it and have great memories for the rest of their lives. Saw AC/DC again in June in Washington DC, they were still good and had a great time. My first gig was Motorhead when I was sixteen, it was crazy loud, likely same tour as Ian. Great memories although my hearing probably started suffering then, who ever heard of earplugs back then, although we are probably all paying now.
What a great dad you are, mine just said what is all this racket, it’s not music.
Just bought tickets to see Zach Bryan next Sept, many fights with internet blocks etc. It’s not the same as queuing outside shops to buy tickets, and I wish the prices were the same as they used to be.
Thank you so much for all the love on this post. I can’t wait until Christmas Day to share the gift (but I will :-)). So many good comments here about ear protection too. I definitely will remember that!
@roger_holland - oh yeah, give me all the Thunderstruck cannons!
@franzek - lol. actually my youngest (the 9 year old) is the one who sent me the info initiially that he wanted these tix for Christmas. But I’ve been playing it off like we can’t afford the tix so I actually don’t think he’s expecting it. Even better, right?
@Prof_Thunder - That’s so cool! I’ve always been partial to Bon Scott’s albumns. I can’t believe you saw him in his last concert. what a memory
@philsmith - See? I keep telling them what a cool Dad I am. Maybe now they’ll agree with me
