Survey: for the final Vintage Club of 2024 I am thinking of a fun session, different to the norm

I was thinking of going off piste a little with Vintage Club #20.

In Club #19 we looked at some of the many ways that multiple guitars can play together. I mentioned that this can be used by people who are interested in adding layers and textures to songs, perhaps in creating recordings.

I have the notion of seeking to compose and create, in real-time during the live stream, a ‘song’ using these techniques. By taking suggestions from the live audience in chat, we will collaboratively decide upon chord progressions, tempo, and other elements that will go to composing a song - most likely in two or more parts (time dependent) of intro / verse / chorus / bridge/ outro etc.

This has all the potential to be a risky venture as I will be creating, playing, recording and over-dubbing multiple parts on a looper (a Digitech Trio+ to be more precise) in front of a live audience! Eek.

What say you?

  • Go for it Richard. It sounds like fun and what’s to lose!
  • No, sorry, I’m not interested.
  • Are you nuts? It’ll be a disaster! haha … Oh wait - I’ll tune in to that! Car crash live streaming.

Sounds like fun Richard although it will be stressful for you of course, especially if you have loads of contributors each with a different idea of which way to go!

Thanks Gordon.
To help with selections I have a quick-to-apply filtering / sorting idea in mind.

Hi Richard,
Of course i vote the second option :joy:,

I really need to learn how to use my trio :grimacing:…next week…I think

Great idea!

“The journey is the reward”. Lots to learn and fun along the way. If it’s getting a bit “chaotic”, I don’t mind. Definitely worth a try!

“Going off piste?”
I had to look up that term-thanks for the new vocabulary Richard. If you want to take us off the beaten path that could be fun, just don’t crash the car!

Sounds like an absolutely fascinating idea.

Very daring, a tiny bit crazy, and super creative. If it will be a car crash, it will be an artful one at least.

I’ll be sure to mark this Vintage Club day in my calendar in bright red.

I only fear, I’ll end up suffering from Trio+ pedal fever even more than I am already now. But… The Trio+ wouldn’t work with a simple modeling amp (Line 6 W30) anyhow? :innocent:

Sounds like loads a fun for the last session. Perhaps you could set a theme of some kind that would help constrain the creativity from being too wild :grinning:

This sounds like a blast :boom:

I think I have already.
But, sshh, it’s a secret just now.

Given the cheeky answer option, I’d bet the theme is as well.

Go for it, what could go wrong ?

This will be fun. I assume you are going to come into the session with your memory zapped like the MIB. :joy:.

Sounds like an amazing idea. No risk, no fun they say!

Now I really, really, really hope to make it to the next club and don’t rely on the recording. That will be a fun experience and we promise to behave. :innocent:

Brave but creative and promising!
You could look for a semi-manageable formula, with some pre-made aspects or paths to go down.

The session has high potential to inspire people’s writing process so I’m a fan of the idea

What I especially like is that this fosters a bit more attendee action and interaction. This wasn’t possible in the other sessions due to the large number of attendees. Looking forward to it :+1:

Some working titles
“Crowd Sauce Blues”
“So Many Cooks in the Kitchen”
“Thirty three chords and the truth.”

And a band name:
“Very Crowded House”

Sounds good. :musical_note:

And like my guitar teacher always says: “If it sounds good, it is good.” :grinning:

I’m looking forward to this session and I’m sure it’ll be fun :guitar:
