Wicked game - my favourite go to
Whatās up - my second favourite go to
Three little birds - my third favourite go to
As a bonus - More than words, not really a beginner song but a firm favourite for me.
Knockinā on Heavenās Door
American Pie (perhaps an abridged version as too many verses!)
Youāve Got to Hide Your Love Away
āYou Keep me Hanging Onā actually a lot of piano but the chords are easy,- J.J. Cale
āLove Minus Zero, No Limitā one of the early ones, - Bob Dylan
āStuck in the Middle with Youā - Gerry Rafferty
Beautiful Noise
Annieās Song
Take Me Home Country Roads
More than words by Extreme
Blackbird by The Beatles
Need to thinkā¦
Wonderwall maybe?
All my campfires were long time ago, with songs mostly in Russian.
A Horse with No Name America
Wish You Were Here Pink Floyd
Heart of Gold Neil Young
Mick
MIster Bojangles - Jerry Jeff Walker
Slip Sliding Away - Paul Simon
Imagine - John Lennon
Do they need to be songs that Justin has tutorials on? If not then I have some suggestions.
Revival- Zach Bryan
Something in the Orange- Zach Bryan (both use the same 3 open chords)
Free Falling- Tom Petty
These were very beginner friendly for me.
Ok, Iāll go with someā¦ not most well known and always played songsā¦
Paul Simon - Was a sunny day
It wasnāt exactly a hit in the charts, but when I rediscovered it lately, it seemed very familiar to me that I had the feeling lots of people knew it. Maybe Iām wrong?
I hear you knockin in the style of Fats Domino, simply with 3 chords like in here:
Edwyn Collins - A girl like you
Justinās got an easy lesson with a capo
Cheers, Dominique
Ok, reading your edit, I think I went wrong with going slightly original, off the road.
If you want the most popular stuff, at our campfires, it wasā¦
Let it be
Hey Jude
Country Roads
My first ideas:
San Francisco Scott Mc Kenzie
Mull of Kintyre Wings (before Imagine or Let it be)
Wonderful Tonight Eric Clapton
after having a Quick Look on the list above: some not mentioned before and more beginner-isch - I think.
I hadnāt heard Four Strong Winds in a long long time. Itās a great sing along piece and easy to learn. Also one you can practice playing with all barre chords or all triads to work those guitar muscles.
American Pie
Brown Eyed Girl
Crocodile Rock
I nearly suggested Good Riddance and Donāt look back in Anger. Good choices. As you have such good taste Iāll check out the Pearl Jam one you suggested.
Twist and shout
Mad world
Knocking on heavenās door
Here goesā¦
Sunshine on my Shoulders-John Denver
Wagon Wheel-Darius Rucker version
Folsom Prison Blues-Johnny Cash
Sittinā on the Dock of the Bay-Otis Redding
Fields of Gold-Sting (easy version that Justin teaches)
Tod
Oopsā¦ only supposed to be 3ā¦ okay, subtract Fields of Gold!!!
Riptide - Vance Joy
Hey, Soul Sister - Train
Wicked Game (yes I cheated and edited this after reading)
Knocking on Heavens door
Times like these
Leaving on a Jet Plane
My go to campfire songs that people will sing the chorus too
As Coda says, people who live in a non english speaking country donāt sing english songs, therefore I would actually add an other constraint:
- songs with international versions.
So I would also select those:
- San Francisco Scott Mc Kenzie
- House of the rising sun
- Take Me Home Country Roads
I would like āanother day in paradiseā by Phil Collins, but I donāt know if it meets the other criteria.
@ everyone
thanks
