Sweet Home Chicago Cover

Another one that I’m not entirely happy with but it’s time to move on. Sweet Home Chicago that was brought to my attention on the BLIM course. Scary thing is I don’t think there are any more acoustic songs in the BLIM course for me to try, so either I record an AVOYP with an electric or give up doing AVOYP’s!

That was pretty good John, to be honest. (We are all our own worst crtics.)
Articulation, rhythm, vocal etc all sound great to me. An enjoyable listen.

Hi John,

:scream:

This is my first music of the day and I am very happy with it … your relaxed way of playing and your wonderful singing voice makes this a great start to the day
:sunglasses:    :man_bowing: :bouquet:

Thanks and, Greetings

Nice one, John, well played …

Even the ‘best’ work on their performance of a song.

Fwiw, I find moving on is a good plan, and a more productive use of my practise time … :+1:t2:.

There’s the “law of diminishing returns” on any task, and I find revisiting a piece after a gap can offer a fresh approach opportunity. It doesn’t take long to be where I was in the learning, and there’s often renewed enthusiasm to make those improvements.

Keep it fun … :sunglasses:.

Good stuff John, that was great. You’ve got that thumb string pick thing down really well and the other picks were very articulate. The whole thing oozed blues. Your vocal was spot on too. There is some difficult vocal phrasing in that song and you aced it.
Well done, great job.

Surely you can use the techniques learned in Blim to play other songs not specifically covered in the course?

That was a very enjoyable performance John. A nice relaxed delivery.

That was well played. Lovely sounding guitar. I wouldn’t worry about the lack of blues music that is specifically for acoustic guitar: I suspect much of what can be played on electric will work to some extent on acoustic.
As a compleete aside to all the music, you resemble Doctor John, a singer, songwriter, pianist who died a few years ago now.

Well played John

Lovely job John, great performance.

John this sounds great and you should be very proud of it! I enjoyed the listening throughfully! Bravo!

That was a sweet treat, John!

Even though you weren’t entirely happy with that one, I was while listening.

That was great playing and singing, most enjoyable!

That sounded really good John. I don’t normally click on anything blues as it’s not something that interests me but as I live in Chicago I gave it a go and glad I did. Great job!

Fantastic John, nice voice to go with the playing too. You got more relaxed and even as you went on. I really enjoyed the video. Thanks.

John, great performance. You really have a good steady bass blues rhythm with clearly picked notes and the vocals are authentic and blend well with the playing. It was enjoyable to listen to and I’ve added to my list of songs to cover in the next year.

Hi John, this is a great job!
Soft beautiful acoustic sound plus soulful vocals - what else do we need for good blues!
Thanks for sharing,
Leo
